Meet The Monarch, your sun-drenched Catskills escape. Ideal for 3-4. Exquisitely designed for ultimate comfort- hot tub, fire pit, yoga room, Weber grill, outdoor dining, and indoor/outdoor toys for kids. Ideal for couples, families, friends. On 7 acres in the forest, The Monarch is amazing in all seasons. 1.5 mi to Ashokan Reservoir; 20 min drive to Woodstock/Kingston/Stone Ridge. Please note we are in a natural environment and 15 min to nearest town. The Monarch sits in a quiet hollow between two fields. Jog/bike to the Ashokan Reservoir (just 1.5 miles away), and spot a bald eagle if you're lucky. Watch native wildlife from the enormous windows - barred owls, deer, wild turkeys and more. Pick wildflowers from the field or relax in the Adirondack chairs, gazing at the lightning bugs in summer. Explore the private forest or hike in the many parks nearby (which also have kayaking, horseback riding, skiing, tubing, lake swimming, snowshoeing and more). Visit a local farm to pick your own berries or meet some cows. Inside, the bedrooms are private with huge windows and ample space; 2 are fully furnished with a third finished attic that can serve as a private office, yoga studio, or third bedroom. Entertain your kids in the indoor playroom (stocked with books/toys in the 3-6 year range) or have them go nuts outside with the sled, sandbox, tree swing, or tree stump playground. Luxuriate in the Grohle bathtub and picture window shower. Light a fire in the wood stove or in the fire pit, or relax in the all-weather outdoor hot tub. Grill a nice meal to eat underneath the shade of a 50-year old sugar maple tree. If you don't feel like cooking, there are numerous restaurants within a 10-20 minute drive. The Monarch is ideal for a friends getaway, couples retreat, or family escape. It is not recommended for children under 3 or early crawlers/walkers for safety reasons. It is a quick drive from NYC -- 1.5 hours from UWS, 2 hours from Brooklyn (without traffic) We abide by Airbnb enhanced cleaning practices. We will provide a house guidebook with local recommendations on check-in. Bringing a car is strongly recommended. There is enough parking space for 4 cars. We live in NYC, but our next door neighbor Beth is available should you need anything. We do self-checkin/out for maximum guest convenience. Additional amenities: We live here part-time, so there are all the amenities and creature comforts you could hope for (cooking supplies, board games, subscription TV including Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO Max). We are modern art lovers, and there is a rotation of Brooklyn-based artists on display in the house. Connectivity: There is no mobile tower service, but the internet is fast and supports mobile wifi-based calling / multiple simultaneous Zoom meetings. As of 5/21, internet speed is 382 mbps download, 82 mbps upload. There are also 2 separate desks/workspaces for remote work. Use the wifi extender to take that conference call from the hot tub. Security: There is a whole house backup generator in case of the rare windstorm/power outage. Our next door neighbor Beth is available if any help is needed. We do have outdoor security cameras in place, but there are no cameras indoors. Eco-friendly: The Monarch is solar-powered and recycles rainwater. Pricing: Base nightly rate is for up to 2 people. Additional guests (max of 4) are $40 per person per night. Legal: We abide by all local Marbletown regulations, and we pay Ulster County taxes for Airbnb stays.
