Gracious Farmhouse with Beautiful Views

Gracious farmhouse on beautiful working farm offers opportunity for families to disconnect from city life. The farm has been in our family for 160 years; the house was built by our grandfather; Lewis & Clark camped on the land. The house is simply but comfortably furnished; all the mattresses are new. Enjoy family meals either in the dining room or on the enclosed porch. Jane will meet you with the key and show you around. Doug and Bill farm the land so you may see them coming down the road. The yard is big and the views are spectacular, however, children will need to be supervised. There is a small brick house that will soon be demolished but in the meantime it is off limits to children. The front porch is scheduled for repair but in the meantime it should not be used; everyone enters thru the side door anyway. There are lots of deer and coyotes on the farm. They are scared of people so do not pose a danger, however, children and small pets need to be supervised in the yard. Hunting is not allowed on the farm. The house is a wonderful place for families to spend time together. Children are of course welcome, however, the house has not been child proofed. We are not aware of any specific dangers but it has been a long time since we had small children in the house so cupboards do not have safety latches. Be aware there is a laundry shoot in the bathroom which goes to the laundry room in the basement. Children should be not go into the basement without an adult. Please note that one of the beds--the full bed--is in a room with no heat. The bed has a warm comforter on it so sleeping is fine but be aware that it is very cold in the room during winter so changing clothes or doing anything besides sleeping is probably not going to be comfortable. There is a queen sized air mattress that can be set up in the large downstairs bedroom or the larger upstairs bedroom. Also please note that the house has no dishwasher, no garbage disposal, no wi-fi and no tv. There is a washer and dryer in the basement that guests are welcome to use. The house is smoke free. Smoking is not allowed in the house and the fireplace should not to be used. The house sits in the middle of a beautiful working farm. The fields are planted with field corn and soybeans. No hunting allowed.
