Offering spacious accommodations in a historic landmark home 10 minutes from Dartmouth College. This listing is for the entire house. To book individual rooms, please see listings for "Blue Room" "Turret Room" or "Lilac Room." From the historical society: CHARLES H. EMERSON HOUSE This house was built by Charles H. Emerson (b. 1834), a local road builder, around 1870. This well-preserved house has a prominent turret that towers over the front façade and dominates both the doorway and the expansive front porch. Tucked away on Elm Street West, this architectural jewel in the Queen Anne-style is rarely viewed by the City’s residents. The house sleeps 10 guests in 5 rooms: Bedroom 1 (Turret Room ): Queen bed, sleeps two. Twin bed may be added upon request. Bedroom 2 (Blue Room): Queen bed, sleeps two. Twin bed may be added upon request. Bedroom 3 (Lilac Room): Twin trundle beds, sleeps two. One bed slides out from under the other. Bedroom 4 (new): Double bed, sleeps two. Library: Queen sleeper sofa, sleeps two. 3 bedrooms and the library are up one flight of stairs, on the second floor. There is a full bathroom on the second floor, with a shower over the tub. Bedroom 4 is located on the first floor (no stairs!). The second bathroom with a large walk-in shower is located on the first floor. Please see photos with descriptions of the bedrooms and common areas. We will be adding updated photos to showcase our improvements and additional fourth bedroom. The entire house is yours to enjoy - bedrooms, sitting rooms, dining room, kitchen, mudroom, laundry room, porches, patio, yard, and garden. (Only the owners' storage areas are closed off.) The chef's kitchen is well equipped with dishes, glasses, flatware, cookware, prep tools, small appliances, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, five-burner gas cooktop, two electric ovens, and warming drawer. We provide cooking basics and breakfast staples- oil, seasonings, flour, sugar, creamer, coffee/tea/hot chocolate, bread for toast, butter and jam, eggs, juice, and fresh fruit. You are welcome to bring your groceriesand cook for yourselves or enjoy take-out or dining at one of our many local restaurants. We will be here to greet you, give you a brief house tour, provide the entry code and WiFi info, and answer any questions. I enjoy sharing information and history about the house (ask me for an attic tour!), and hearing about my guests' travel adventures. During your stay, I am available by phone/text/or email; I will be staying nearby, should you need assistance with anything. There is absolutely no smoking/vaping any where on the property. No pets. No weapons During wet or snowy weather, please remove shoes or use the provided shoecovers. In case you forget to bring yours, I provide a basket of slippers and cozy socks to wear in the house. There are extra blankets and throws to curl up with, as well.
