The "Inn at The Garrison" is part of the lovely country property "The Garrison", in a spectacular setting overlooking the Hudson River and surrounding highlands. Our four inn rooms each have king beds, private bathrooms with showers, WiFi, TVs, coffee / tea set-up, mini-fridge with complimentary fruit, yogurt, water and granola bars. Our Valley Restaurant and bar is open for dinner Thu - Sat, and lunch on Sat + Sun. The hamlet of Garrison is in the center of the area known as the Hudson Highlands, a 10-mile stretch of the Hudson River where it flows through the Appalachian mountains. The landscape and views are breathtakingly beautiful. Garrison has low levels of development, hilly topography, and lots of land under conservation easement - an unusually rural and idyllic area so close to New York City. There is an abundance of parkland & hiking trails (the Appalachian Trail passes near The Garrison). There are many nearby attractions (art, design, historical, gardens, nature..), including Dia:Beacon, Manitoga, Boscobel, the summertime Shakespeare Festival, Magazzino Italian Art, Storm King Art Center, Stonecrop Garden, West Point Military Museum, & Constitution Marsh to name a few. Located directly across the Hudson River from West Point, The Garrison is 45 miles north of mid-town Manhattan and 10 miles south of Route 84 in Fishkill. It is an hour train ride from Grand Central to the Metro-North station in Garrison. Guests frequently make the 5 - 10 minute drive via Uber from the station to The Garrison. The drive from The Garrison to West Point takes around 20 - 25 minutes, by way of the Bear Mountain Bridge. The Garrison is a 300-acre property, with the main building set far from the main road down a long driveway through the golf course. Parking is in our large parking lot, guests walk down to the main building. The Garrison is busier on weekends when the restaurant is open and when there are frequently weddings. Please note: if wedding guests are also staying in the inn, there can occasionally be some noise. Weekdays tend to be very quiet. A receptionist is usually at the desk Wednesday through Sunday, business hours. There is no elevator and no baggage attendant. If only one of our four inn rooms is booked on a particular night, there will be no-one else in the building. The building is locked at night. Guests' room keys open the side door for after-hours entry. The host lives in a house close to the main building on the same property. If you are coming to play golf, please inquire about tee time availability before you book the room.
