Parking permit included so guests can just park and go! The Space The space is well designed with all you need to feel relaxed and comfortable after a day exploring the sights or visiting for business. The kitchen includes all updated appliances and everything you need for reheating leftovers from the many amazing restaurants nearby! Guests can expect a rustic, industrial feel, with unique elements that create a fun and funky space to enjoy your trip to Washington! The centerpiece of your restful retreat is our king sized bed in the bedroom - complete with rustic wooden headboard - sleep easy surrounded by warm, earthy tones a true retreat from the hustle and bustle. Shoji screen door, steampunk industrial stools, a farmhouse kitchen and a laptop friendly workspace meld together to create a zen, calming retreat from city overload. There's a beautiful and spacious walk in shower in the bathroom. Interaction with Guests We are always available for any questions or issues that may arise during your stay. Guest Access The unit is located in the lower level of a row-house. The owners - a friendly couple – live upstairs. As is common with city living, you will hear the sound of family life above you, including footsteps and other comings an goings. The bedroom in the apartment is equipped with a sound machine for those who like to sleep in. For those more sensitive to sound traveling, we might suggest packing earplugs as well. Getting Around With a walk score of 93% (a walker's paradise), plenty of buses are available in the neighborhood and can take you all over the city, but exploring on foot is an easy option as well! The closest metro is the Shaw - Howard University Station, which is a 10 minute stroll from the home, and follows the Green-Yellow lines. BE on the lawn of the National Mall in under 25 minutes! Uber taxi`s are plentiful also. The Neighborhood The Bloomingdale / Shaw neighborhood is popular for families and younger DC residents because it is a quiet, charming neighborhood yet offers quick access to downtown. You will find many wonderful cafes and coffee shops nestled among the tree lined streets. We are only a short walk to a charming weekend farmer’s market, wonderful restaurants, coffee shops, bars and pubs, a new movie theater, Union Market, and more! We provide a welcome packet with all of our favorite local recommendations. Other things to note ~ We want you to make the most of your stay, so we've partnered with DC’s longest-running city tour company Old Town Trolley Tours to help ensure an amazing visit, at the best rate possible! Sit back and relax as the finest, most highly-trained and knowledgeable guides take you through the city, to soak up the surrounding history. Please note that smoking of any kind and drug use in or around the property is strictly prohibited (this includes outside spaces). If we do find evidence of illegal substances or marijuana use, the reservation will be automatically canceled with no refund. ~ Strict NO pets policy. ~ We insist that for group bookings renters are above the age of 25, unless agreed prior to making your reservation. (Families with children under 25 are very welcome). Due to fire code and insurance requirements the property has a maximum occupancy and additional guests must have our advance approval. ~ We may ask for additional proof of identity / address (passport / drivers license etc) and reason for stay such as work contracts or permits. ~ We may ask for an additional security deposit for larger groups or longer stays. ~ Due to our tight cleaning schedules, charges apply for unannounced late check-outs. ~ Exterior may be monitored by exterior cameras, there are no cameras indoors. ~The neighborhood is a strong community and everyone looks out for each other, we ask that folks please be mindful of noise that could disturb in the early mornings and late at night. ~ One parking permit can be provided for your stay. If it is not left in the apartment after your stay, there is a $500 replacement charge plus any parking fees incurred by the next guest as a result of the permit not being available. If the permit is missing on arrival please let us know and we will do all we can to locate it but we cannot guarantee it`s availability. Unfortunately we cannot be responsible for any parking fees, tickets or towing charges incurred as a result of a pass not being available. Please ask about suggestions for nearby parking options. ~ While luggage is expected, we strictly prohibit large items (including, but not limited to, bicycles and exercise equipment) being brought into the unit without prior approval. ~ If your booking spans 2 weeks or longer, we may require a “deep clean” following your check-out. ~ Prior to you checking in, the property has been inspected to confirm there are no damages and everything is in working order. If upon checking in, you discover something broken or not working, please let us know immediately. ~ Please be sure that ALL of the windows and doors are closed if the HVAC is running. ~ Please do NOT flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilets. ~ PARKING IMPORTANT! : If you need parking, you will need to request parking IN ADVANCE of your arrival, by signing up for the DC's digital parking pass program. We will provide a unique property code that allows you to request a Visitor’s Parking Pass via the portal. You will then need to print the digital pass (we cannot print passes for you) and place it on your car dashboard when you need to park. If this is not done in advance of your stay, we cannot be held responsible. If you can't print before your stay please let us know if you would like us to share nearby printing resources.
