Rural farmhouse lets you relax in peace or rev-it-up on your four-wheeler.
The Creek is a peaceful small farmhouse on 73 acres surrounded by several miles of gravel roads for 4-wheeling. It is a place to get away from the stress and demands facing all of us this year. We are known for our Peace Porch. Whether it is cold outside and needing a blanket, or warm and sunny, the porch is a wonderful place to drink your coffee in the morning and listen to the birds and enjoy nature at its best. It’s very rural, it is country, and nearly off the grid but with all the conveniences of city living. The farm is located in a beautiful little valley next to a major creek. A small branch runs next to the house giving children a treat catching crawdads when the weather permits. Deer, wild turkey, elk, and all the critters of mountain living make themselves known from time to time. Summers are a little cooler being in the mountains and next to a creek. Fall is beautiful with exquisite colors from October through parts of November. Winter is cozy and quiet with the small gas fireplace giving a peaceful atmosphere. The 1938, 900 square foot farm house and acreage which was once a working farm with cows, sheep, chickens, and hogs, and was the home of a wonderful family with nine children. It has been remodeled and sleeps four with two queen bedrooms. The old barn finally fell a few years ago ending the working aspects of the farm and leaving the property just a simple get-away. It overlooks fields and is nestled in the Appalachian Mountains surrounded by a handful of friendly neighbors. Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area in TN as well as Cumberland Falls in KY are both within an hours drive. Above the house but out of site sits a historical cemetery. Sterlin Adkins, the son of the first family in the valley in the 1800's started five churches in the county and is buried there. The property is located on a popular local gravel road for four-wheeling, but we are not connected to Royal Blue; it is one hour from our property. We do not supply ATV's. The closest gas station is 30 minutes away, and we are 40 minutes from town. The two bedroom house has a living room with a sectional and recliner and a small gas fireplace. There is a fully functional kitchen with a small island with barstools and a washer/dryer for your convenience. There is a small bathroom with shower. Smart TV. and WiFi are free. USB ports are in the bedroom lamps and one is located in the kitchen. There is central heat for winter and air-conditioning for winter. Extra blankets and pillows are provided. The house is surrounded on two sides with a porch and deck with rockers, swing, reclining lawn chairs, and two tables seating six, with a fire pit close by. Check with us to see if there is fire wood available. If not, firewood can be purchased close to town. Swings on the old sycamore tree and a hammock in the front yard are a big hit for all. It has been used for many family gatherings and family reunions. Historical church located one mile down the gravel road makes for a great little hike and would be a wonderful place for a wedding. Family fun or just a need to get away and enjoy life sitting on the porch can be found on THE CREEK. We hope to see you soon!
