Welcome to the swamp!! Whiskey Business is located in the heart of the famous Maurepas swamp, right off the chinquapin canal. This spacious, 1500 sq. foot loft floor plan has been fully renovated with all the modern amenities of a custom home with a keen attention to detail. The options to pass your time during your stay here are endless. The property is located on a public road off of LA scenic Highway 22 in Maurepas LA. Maurepas is settled directly between the greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge metro areas and is only about 50 miles to either destination. There various shopping destinations such as The Tanger outlet mall, cabellas, Bass Pro Shops and all historical River Road plantations all within an hrs drive. Upon arrival, guest will see both covered and open parking leading way to a raised and welcoming large front porch with sun shades to block out the rising sun in the mornings. Past the porch, is entry to the home where you will walk into a spacious and open floor plan Upon entry, guest will be standing at the start of the full kitchen with all modern amenities including all stainless appliances, (French door refrigerator, microwave, and range with 5 burners and oven) garbage disposal, granite sink, porcelain counter tops, center island with breakfast bar for 3 and all kitchen set up items needed for your stay. At the rear of the kitchen, just to the right of the entry is the full bath. The barn style door offering access and privacy to the full bath was pulled from an antebellum home on river road in Reserve LA and re- purposed specifically for this property. Next to the kitchen is a dinner nook with seating for four that looks out over chinquapin canal that is the perfect setting or a mid day lunch or an evening dinner watching the sun set In the west. The room then flows into to the living area equip with a smart LED TV loaded with current apps for streaming as well as YouTube TV included. Furnishings in the living area include a full size couch, love seat and oversized chair along with end and coffee tables. The Living room also has 5.1 surround sound and low light lamps for late night movies Behind the sofa are the stairs that will lead guest to the second story loft that contains 2 queen sized beds with custom built head boards from reclaimed doors that date back to the 1860s, a half bath, nightstand and armoire for any garments that may need to be hung. Body wash, shampoo, conditioner , hand soap toilet paper and coffee are all supplied for your stay After guest are done inside, the back door leads out onto a fully raised deck that stretches the width of the property with lots of space for sun, cooking, fishing and just taking in the scenery. 4 fishing poles are provided for guest use Connected to the back deck is a covered deck and boat that extends 30’ over the water and has 2 -3500 lb boat lifts and a fish cleaning station. Guest are welcome to bring their own water craft and can be keept in the boat house for the duration of their stay. There is an convenient boat launch at the beginning of the neighborhood for you to launch upon arrival. Lift planks can be adapted for different types of boats if possible. Boat house also includes power for charging and outdoor lighting. The chinquapin canal opens into blind river and is just a short boat ride to Lake Maurepas as well as the diversion canal. Along both routes, there are endless places for fishing, frogging, and touring places most people never get to see from land. Weither you fish from the dock that is a great catfish spot, or hit the stumps in your own boat for wide mouth bass, spotted bass, sac a lait, and other native fish to the area, you are almost sure to bring home a great dinner. If fishing isn’t your thing, there are lots of other things on the water you can do. You are minutes from the sand bars in lake Maurepas. A quick jog north of the lake takes you to the Tickfaw river where the prop stop and Tin Lizzie is located, as well as sun buns and middendorphs in Manchack. This area and the lake are also prime tubing, skiing, and wake boarding spots. A little closer brings you to the diversion canal that contains canal bank, Dicarlos food and Spirits, lagniappe and rum buoys. All within 6 miles are 2 grocery stores, daiquiri shops, dollar general, eateries and fuel stations. Hair cuts bars and a nail salon are also available. Delivery is not available by Waitr etc however both grocery stores have delis and can take custom pizza orders for pick up before 8:30. We don't restrict access to the lofts or decks, but we are not responsible for any injuries that may occur by entering the loft/Deck areas. Children must be supervised on walkways/Lofts and Docks at all times. We are not responsible for anyone falling from lofts and/or drowning in water. The most appealing part of this property is the environment that it is located. Although appealing, we are in nature and with that comes the possibility of wildlife encounters. Birds and squirrels are abundant as well as spotting bald eagles, but sometimes the not so friendly habitants make their presence known. Snakes and alligators are not going to knock on your door to eat you, but we are in their habitat and its possible to see these in the canal and/or on land by the property. Be mindful of your surroundings and watch where you step if venturing into any of the wildlife management areas across from the property or grass areas. Swimming in the canal at the rear of the property is not restricted as well but not recommended due to the possibility of wildlife as well as heavy boat traffic. The canal is a not wake restricted and can get busy at times. The canal is also a natural body of water that is not chemically treated so swimming is at your own risk.
