Historic farmhouse set on secluded 40-acre Ridgewood Farm, surrounded by oak trees and rolling hills. Fully updated country retreat 3 miles from Harding University. Two-mile trail around the property, wildlife, pond with fishing poles. Two bedrooms, shower and bath. High speed wireless internet. TV with Netflix, Prime and Dish. Collection of classic books. Full kitchen, all modern appliances, washer & dryer, AC & heat. Self-serve breakfast options with coffee and tea. Pets loved and welcomed. Guests are welcome to explore the 40 acres, wooded areas and pond; the large deck with grill and white pergola outside the red brick main house; and the art studio attached to the green barn. I live in the main house on the property and am home most days and available should you need anything. The Ridgewood Farm Guesthouse is perfectly located only 3 miles from Harding University and town, yet is completely secluded. Many wildlife make this their home including deer, hawks, large Pileated Woodpeckers, Great Horned owls, quail, a variety of small birds, armadillos and more. A lovely cypress encircled pond sits next to the house, and is filled with bass and brim. There is a 2-mile-ish walking / running path located around the property with hills. If you're up for a real workout challenge, you are welcome to help us bale hay. A black cat called Wednesday lives in the main house along with two dogs - a large-eared small brown dog called Mimi (that's Japanese for ear) and Yeti, a Great Pyrenees puppy (a puppy as of this update on April 21, 2021 - if it's a few weeks later and you're reading this - expect to see a friendly bounding abominable snow beast). Other dogs visit regularly. We have many chickens that mill about the place. The Guesthouse and land have a wonderful energy, whether you seek rest, relaxation and rejuvenation or solitude and privacy. There is a fully stocked art studio that you are welcome to use attached to the green barn. If you would like company and meaningful conversation, we welcome guests into the main house for meals, gathering around the fire (indoor and out) and cooking on the grill. You are welcome to use the grill too. Searcy is a warm and inviting small town but public transportation is not its forte. You'll need a car to get around, although there are many shops within a 2 mile walking distance. There is a treasure trove of vintage shops, flea markets and antique stores in all directions from Searcy to Little Rock. As we are a working farm with pets, farm animals, and wildlife, we need to be aware of any pets you bring with you. Please tell us the number and types of pets you would like to bring when you request to book. Please keep all pets leashed when outside with them on the property. Pets cannot be left outside overnight as we have deer, foxes, coyotes, hawks, and owls in the area.
