Enjoy a visit to the lovely Hudson Valley with a stay in a majestic 1867 Victorian home located on 11 acres in the Town of Poughkeepsie. The home has been fully restored with modern amenities including central air conditioning, a Sonos sound system throughout as well as 400+ Mbps internet service. The house features 7 bedrooms/nooks and 5 bathrooms on 3 spacious floors. Enjoy a fully equipped chefs kitchen complete with a lounge area for watching the cook. Meals can be enjoyed in the breakfast room/ library or the formal dining room with a fireplace and seating for 12-14 at a round table and chairs with handpainted motifs. China, flatware and glassware for 12 along with serving dishes and an assortment of napkins and table linens make for elegant entertaining. Extra dishes are available for larger parties. The billiard room features a collection of Civil War accoutrements and art along with a fireplace adorned with an original over-mantle. The lounge is furnished with a restored antique settee and chairs and a window-seat that looks out on the patio and porch. A third fireplace is found in the comfortable family room under a 55” smart TV. The bar has a generous assortment of glassware, an under counter drink refrigerator, ice maker and a beer tap system for a keg. Use one of 2 staircases to ascend to three second-floor bedrooms, 2 with en-suite bathrooms. The Balcony Suite master has a sitting room, a large walk-in closet and sleeping area with a king-size iron bed, a stove and a balcony overlooking the grounds. The en-suite bathroom is done in green marble and features double basins in a reproduction wood dresser, a decked-out steam shower as well as a luxurious soaking tub. The Canopy Suite is furnished with bed steps to climb into an antique iron canopy bed, dressed with lace and a handmade quilt. A window nook is lit for relaxing with or without a book. The en-suite bathroom has a large shower. The third bedroom is the Palm Room done with plantation-style furnishings including a queen size sleigh bed with a plush mattress. The 4th bedroom is the Cowboy Room featuring a western theme featuring a full size bed and an amazing view. The hall bathroom is steps away and features a restored original claw foot tub with intricate shower fixtures and a pull-chain toilet. Ascend to the third floor via a circular staircase, where there is another living area with a 60” TV and a pool table done in red felt. Around the corners are the Nook Rooms. The North Nook sleeps 4 in two matching queen-size beds. The South Nook sleeps 2 in a full-size bed. The nook alcoves do not have doors but do have a screen for privacy. The Attic Room on the west end has a comfy queen-size bed. The third floor has its own private bathroom with a shower. All beds are made up with soft white 400 thread count sheets. All baths are furnished with fresh white towels and specially bottled aromatherapeutic vegan toiletries. The intricately painted wrap around porch has a mahogany floor and seating for 15-17 in a combination of elegant wicker, a repurposed church pew and charming rockers. The adjoining brick patio seats 12 including a dining table for 8 and a large propane grill with complementary fuel. An additional 8 seats surround a raised fire pit section with a wide wall surrounding that can seat numerous other guests. A full rack of firewood is provided for each stay. A large hot tub fills out the far corner. Spa chemicals and aromatherapy scent packets are provided. Beautiful plantings and a 3 tier fountain are a treat for the eye, while plentiful outdoor speakers allow the Sonos sound system to treat the ears. Steps away across the lawn is a generous 18’ x 42’ salt water swimming pool with a diving board that is fenced in for safety. The pool is surrounded by cool grass and colorful plantings. Cushioned lounge chairs and umbrellas allow for plenty of poolside lounging. The remainder of the landscape is graced with rock walls, generous flower beds and specimen trees and bushes. Near the pond is a hammock which is a great place to relax. A special highlight near the pond is an antique white iron gazebo known as the “birdcage” which is lighted at night. A tree swing is a great spot to bird watch. For extra peace of mind, there is a generator that switches on automatically in the event of a power outage. The property is located in Town of Poughkeepsie near both Hyde Park and Pleasant Valley. It is a 12 minute drive or $10 Uber ride to Poughkeepsie Train Station. 12 minute drive to Poughkeepsie Train Station (Metro North + Amtrak) 40 minute drive to Stewart International Airport 60 minute drive to Westchester County Airport 2 hour train ride to New York City (Grand Central) There is an maximum of 16 guests. Large dumpster is provided for trash and recycling. If refuse exceeds this receptacle an extra $50 fee will be imposed.
