Maine Tidal River Retreat

From its perch on a beautiful wooded bluff, Salt River Cottage offers you stunning views of the water from every common room. At night, you’ll be dazzled by the countless stars and, with the rising sun, be greeted by songbirds and cries of bald eagles (and perhaps the distant mooing of the Scottish highland cattle across the river!). The rivers' confluence provides a constantly changing vista and perfect space for wildlife viewing. At low tide, look for tracks of deer and moose, flip rocks to discover tiny intertidal creatures, or comb the shore for sea glass. At high tide, walk the shoreline path, watching for the occasional bobbing head of a curious harbor seal and the spectacular plunges of hungry osprey (called "fish eagles" by the locals) diving for fish. The Cottage provides clean, traditional accommodations for up to six guests (with a sofa bed and camp cot allowing expansion up to 9).
