Summary: Springbrook Cabin sits along a babbling brook in a quiet forested neighborhood at the base of Mt Hood. This lovingly renovated, two bedroom, pet-friendly retreat is a short walk from the Sandy River, near countless hiking and mountain biking trails, and only 20 minutes from the slopes. Return from a day of adventuring to cozy up by the woodfire stove or relax in the backyard by the outdoor fireplace, grill on the BBQ, and eat your meal at the picnic table surrounded by towering trees. It's all easily accessible from Highway 26 and conveniently located near a grocery store, restaurants, and coffee shops. Pick wild blackberries in the yard in summer, snowshoe to Trillium Lake in the winter, or just relax with a cup of coffee and a puzzle at the live edge dining table. The Space: Springbrook Cabin has been lovingly renovated in a way that keeps its original charm and yet adds in many modern upgrades. You will feel like you stepped back in time when you enter this lovely cabin. The cabin is located on a one lane dirt road, surrounded by large trees, wildflowers, ferns and blackberry bushes. This cabin is fairly secluded with only one visible neighbor across the street. Upon arrival you will enter thru the barn door into the garage. There is plenty of space for ski equipment, bikes and outdoor gear to be kept during your stay. Access to the house will be self check-in using the code emailed to you the morning of arrival so no need to coordinate key pick up or drop off. The kitchen has a farmhouse style sink, full size appliances, and is fully stocked with cookware and dining ware. You will find an old school popcorn maker with kernels for your snacking enjoyment. The pantry is stocked with cooking basics like oil, salt & pepper, seasonings and other staples. The coffee bar is stocked with locally roasted coffee and has both a traditional pot and a stovetop "cowboy" coffee pot. The open layout of the home makes it the perfect place to cook while interacting with the family. The dining area features a custom made heavy wood table and four chairs. Perfect for playing games, assembling puzzles and making memories. The living room features a beautiful new fireplace insert that is housed in the original fireplace. The fireplace is easy to use and manage and has blowers built in allowing the space to warm up quickly. We do supply you with wood for your initial fire. We also work with a local provider who you can purchase additional wood from and they will deliver it right to your cabin. You will find a very comfortable leather sofa and a vintage chair allowing for comfortable seating for 4. We welcome you to enjoy our selection of books, puzzles and board games along with the record player and record selection. The writing desk is a perfect place to get your inspiration down on paper, or set up your laptop for work, as the view from the window next to the desk looks out over the green wilderness giving you instant stress relief. The WIFI is the best available for the area making remote work easy and worry free. We also have a smart TV and Netflix streaming for those times when you just need to zone out. Each of the two bedrooms has a queen bed and a small closet for your clothing. The bedrooms are separated by the bathroom in the middle of the hallway. We supply all of the blankets, linens and pillows needed for your stay. We also can set up a pack and play if you need a place for your little one to sleep. The bathroom is brand new and features a large stand up shower. We supply you with plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Out back you will find a deck, picnic table and an amazing old stone fireplace complete with log seats. The outdoor Edison bulbs are on a timer and turn the backyard into a magical oasis after dark! We invite you to stroll thru the wildflowers and pick some of the wild blackberries. There is a path that leads you down to the lower yard where you can savor a cup of coffee at the little café table and chairs while enjoying the sounds of the babbling brook and perhaps catch a glance of the local deer or other wildlife. If you are in the mood for a little walk, just follow the road out front down to the Sandy River. And Wildwood Recreation Site, with access to the Salmon River and miles of natural trails, is just across the way. We do not supply wood for the outdoor fireplace however we work with a local provider who you can purchase outdoor burning wood from and they will deliver it right to your cabin. Pets are welcome with advance notice, agreement to the pet rules and payment of a pet fee. Reach out to management for specific details regarding pets. Guest Access: Guests have access to all areas of the property except the blue and red sheds as these are the owner’s personal storage areas. The Neighborhood: We are centrally located in Brightwood, about half way between the town of Sandy and Timberline Lodge at the top of Mt Hood. This location allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds from a day spent at one of many beautiful parks located in Sandy to year round Skiing up at Timberline. Some popular activities in the summer include exploring the nearby Wildwood Recreation Site, white water rafting down the Deschutes river, kayaking at Trillium Lake, horseback riding, summer tube slides, winter tubing, mountain biking, and hiking just to name a few! In the winter you might enjoy Cosmic Tubing, Skiing, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing up on the mountain and hiking, mountain biking, or fishing in the lower elevations! There is a chance of snow at the cabin in winter and we do our best to keep the driveways clear. Getting Around: You will most likely need a car to get around and in the winter you will need chains on your tires to navigate the higher up mountain roads. A grocery store, restaurants, and coffee shops are a short drive away. There are shuttles and busses that go up to the mountain ski areas and the pickup location is just down the road - you will need to research those options and schedule your pick up/drop off. The pick up locations and schedule can be found on Mt Hood Express's website. Other Things to Note: Cell phone service may be spotty, however I know ATT gets great reception. The water is from a shared well and may taste like well water, but is perfectly safe to drink, however we suggest bringing up drinking water if you don't like well water. We have a security camera that faces the parking area. No cameras are located inside or in any other area. There is a possibility that you might cross paths with some of the creatures who’s space we have invaded including mice, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, spiders or other bugs. There will be no refunds or discounts provided to those who have such encounters even if the encounter happens inside the cabin. We do our best to keep them outdoors and have ongoing pest control service, but they are small and smart and know how to get in. Interaction with Guests: There is a keypad deadbolt to allow you access to the home and we will give you your privacy, but we are always available if you need anything.
