This one of a kind property is an absolute rustic charmer. With a very private beautiful natural setting. Nestled among tall trees, wildlife, and beautiful rocks. The Lodge is located in beautiful Messines, QC only 113km from downtown Ottawa. Veloroute Des Dravers hiking trail is right in the backyard. A short trip through the scenic trees will lead you to 72km of cycling or snowmobiling trails. Lac Blue Sea is a short 6 minutes down the road for fishing or swimming. CITQ: 306738 The Lodge can accommodate up to 8/10 guests comfortably. The upstairs loft can sleep 6. It has one private queen sized bedroom. An open concept living space with two single beds, and a double pull out futon. The downstairs bedroom can sleep 4. It has one double bed and a bunkbed with two single mattresses. These bunk beds are more suited for children. There is a bonus pull out sofa bed in the living room - please note this is a sofa bed and not a pillow top mattress. Our dining table seats 6 in the kitchen, overlooking the beautiful trees outside the large window. This cottage is a rustic cottage with a loft. It isn't absolutely perfect inside - but thats what adds the charm and makes it a unique place to relax and take in nature. Guests will have access through the front door of the cottage. Each guest will be given a unique door code. Once inside you can open any of the three doors to bring in your belongings. We are always available to our guests during their stay at our cottage. For any questions they may have about the area, cottage, or checkin. Messines, QC is a beautiful part of Quebec. Veloroute Des Dravers is right in the backyard. This bike/ sledding trail will lead you though our vast open spaces and scenic vues. The Véloroute des Draveurs trail is part of the Trans Canada Trail, and spreads out on over 72 km including a variety of geological sites where flora and fauna are omnipresent. Once you approach the Municipalities of Blue Sea and Messines, you will be riding along the breathtaking Blue Sea Lake; many strategic rest-stops are featured along the way. The surface of 44 km is gravel-dust and asphalted on 28 km from Messines to Gracefield. In the winter, the trail is used for snowmobiling. Lac Blue Sea is known for amazing fishing. It is only a 6 minute drive from the cottage. There is a boat launch - and swimming holes available to the public. Mount Morisette is 7km from the cottage. Mount Morissette occupies an area of 589 hectares and has a vertical elevation of 400 metres. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the 13 km of marked trails for hiking in summer and snowshoeing in winter. An 18-metre observation tower offers breathtaking views of a dozen lakes, including Blue Sea Lake. At the mountain’s summit are a lookout and a shelter with wood stove. Grocery, shopping and restaurants are within a 10-25 minute drive. Bike trails/hiking/ snowmobiling. In the summer you can walk through the trees in the back to get direct access. Véloroute des draveurs 80 km of bike trails from Low to Maniwaki Accessible from Blue Sea, on Chemin d’Orlo There is a boat launch for Lac Blue Sea if you wish to bring your boat. No direct water access but a short 5 minute drive down the road. There is also public swimming in Lac Blue Sea. A nice walk on the trail, will lead you there. Parc Régional du Mont Morissette – 3.4KM from the cottage Come and experience the scenic beauty of the woodland landscape of the Gatineau Valley. Take your pick from one of three hiking trails, (1, 5, or 7 km) or follow the gravel road that goes straight to the top to the foot of the heritage fire tower, one of the few still standing in Quebec. Climb the steps of the new observation tower and enjoy a breathtaking view of majestic Blue Sea Lake and surrounding area. Sainte Marie Ski Area – 54KM from the cottage Mont Ste-Marie isn’t just a pretty mountain, although it is that too. It also boasts the highest vertical in the area. So you can appreciate the scenery as you speed down the slopes. And with a great mix of runs ranging from easy to expert, there is no shortage of ways to get down our mountain. There is no local transportation. You will need a vehicle to get to and from the cottage. Grocery and other amenities are a 7 minute drive away. Or larger grocery stores and restaurants in Maniwaki, or Gracefield approx 22km from the cottage.
