This spacious open plan studio is thirty seconds from the beach and has great views of the sunrise, the sea and the stars. The house is peaceful and is surrounded by palm trees. Named after the tree which grows only here, the bay of Estacahuite is made up of three small sandy beaches. It lies just outside the friendly fishing village of Puerto Angel and is a great place to enjoy the beauty of the Oaxacan coast. Casa Calypso is right on the beach in the lovely bay of Estacahuite, just fifteen minutes walk from Puerto Angel. The bay is full of every shape and colour of fish and is a great place to snorkel. Some days as you relax on your balcony, you can see manta rays leaping as well as pods of dolphins and whales passing by. Casa Calypso is made up of three separate studio apartments. La Casa Vieja is a self-contained studio on the upper floor of the family adobe house and is next door to a house made up of two other self contained upper and ground floor one bed studios, Azul and Rojo. They all share a garden, and parking area. If you would like to look at Rojo or Azul here are the listings: Rojo - https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/15631506?s=2PWAF0vO Azul -https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/13896316?s=2PWAF0vO All three can be rented at the same time – just contact us. La Casa Vieja is an open plan studio with two very comfortable Super Kingsize beds, as well as a sofa and a bench which fit together to make another single bed. The space can sleep 4-5 people. It is suitable for a family; or two couples who are happy to share, or for anyone who would like an extra large space. There is a very large balcony overlooking the sea to relax and soak up the sun. There is a galley kitchen with all the necessary basics, but with so many great local restaurants you may find you never need it! There is no hot water (like most of Puerto Angel). Water heaters rust in the sea air. Having said that, the sun heats the water in the tank on the roof to a lovely refreshing temperature, so you’ll find you don’t need hot water. We have no air-conditioning for the same reasons - the sea air would render them useless. However we do have two powerful ceiling fans We do provide wifi, but this is the countryside so please don't expect the same signal as you would get in the city! It works well almost all the time, but it can occasionally become intermittent in the whole area for no apparent reason. Estacahuite is very peaceful almost all year but if you want to see it at its liveliest, come and stay during the two week Easter and Christmas holidays. There are spaces to park one car for each studio in front and they will be safe and secure inside our locking gate. This is the place to unwind, snorkel and watch fireflies in the moonlight, However, you can have the best of both worlds - enjoy all the nightlife that nearby Zippolite and Mazunte have to offer and then come back to the peace and tranquility of Estacahuite. The people of Puerto Angel are laid back and friendly. If Spanish is not your first language, you will find most will try hard to understand whatever attempts you make to communicate. Puerto Angel is a short walk away by the main road and you'll find a couple of small supermarkets and a vegetable market, as well as some beach restaurants and street food. Puerto Angel is a fishing village - but if you go the Panteon beach, to the right, you can book boat tours with local boat owners. Pochutla, 20 minutes away by car, is the principal market town for a large area and here you will find all you need for food shopping and banks. Monday is the main market day (Tianguis) and not to be missed for its sights, sounds, smells and tastes. The best airport to fly to is Huatulco. To get here you can either hire a car or get an airport taxi (about $ (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) USD). If you are not driving, local 'collectivo' taxis (the taxi driver will squeeze 5 passengers in) and 'camionetas ' (wagon covered pick-up trucks) are very cheap and can be boarded at the main road entrance to Estacahuite. Downhill to Puerto Angel for Zipolite, San Agustinillo, Mazunte and Ventanilla. Pochutla is in the other direction. You can also use the numbers supplied in the information booklet at the apartment for calling local taxis. There are mosquito screens on all the windows, a screen for the front door and sliding mosquito screens for the balcony. If you are careful not to leave them open, they are very effective. There are also two powerful ceiling fans. No AC ( it would rust in the sea air!) Water is a very precious resource, stored in tanks, and can run out if taps are left on. Please take care of it. As in all Mexico, waste pipes are narrow and septic tanks small, so toilet papers need to be put in the bin provided to avoid any blockages and bad smells! This is the countryside - using the storage containers provided for food will help keep out unwelcome insects. As mentioned before - No hot water, wifi is occasionally intermittent.
