If you are looking for a very private, truly off grid experience please scroll down and check out what we offer you. We are delighted that our PADMA Yurt re-treat was featured on UNIS TV in 2014 as one of the most unique places in B.C. Canada. In 2017 "BCLiving" named PADMA Yurt re-treat as one of the 9 Airbnb Gems in B.C. Re-treat yourself! Our Yurt PADMA is a haven for anyone who would like to experience a peaceful, sustainable vacation. We are pleased to offer a serene environment with a spectacular ocean, mountain and sunset view. Our artisan-built, timber-framed, yurt platform and wrap around deck is situated on a moss bluff. It is surrounded by large Douglas Fir and Western Cedar trees. Our handmade furniture and simple living designs will surely enhance your experience. We speak English and German. Nature walks are near by and an abundance of clean air will enhance your rest and relaxation. Re-charge yourself with PADMA. PADMA is located on Cortes Island, British Columbia, and is well known for its many stunning beaches, gigantic forests, and a vibrant community. There are many awe inspiring beaches and lagoons where you can collect oysters and cook them on the barbecue. There is plenty to see and do here on the island and a vehicle is highly recommended. We call our 12 acre property “Greenland” and we believe in composting, organic gardening and most of all healthy bees. Our home is located in the valley and PADMA sits on the bluff with its own access road. Our cultivated land is very enchanting, green and lush with flowers growing out of enormous stumps. Two vegetable gardens provide an abundance of tasty produce. Our orchard has old established fruit trees and berries. Think luxury, remote and camping, three words which you might not bring together easily. Luxury: Breathe clean air, eat organic in-season produce, rest, read, listen to real silence, be aware of the environment and of nature itself. Catch a glimpse of bald eagles, hear the night sounds of barred owls. Experience sustainable living with us. Handmade double bed with cotton bedding, blankets, duvet, pillows, mosquito net, towels, functional kitchen with water, Fisher wood burning stove, skylight dome, natural solar sky arch lighting, kerosene lantern, candles. There is no electricity at the yurt, but we can facilitate with our re-charging station. Remote: Located in the rainforest of Beautiful British Columbia our yurt PADMA offers peace, tranquility and privacy. Set on a bluff our yurt platform was hand crafted with wood harvested from our property. This structure is raised 8 feet off the ground and the large deck offers ocean, mountain and stunning sunset view. The sound of bird song in the trees, white tailed deer passing by on their daily route, warm dappled light falling through the forest canopy onto the mossy rocks gives this secluded spot a unique atmosphere in which to unwind and relax. Camping: Sleeping in a yurt is a truly magical experience. With stars shining through the dome there will be no need for television. Chop wood, carry water. Our wood burning stove will keep you cozy and our spacious yurt with all its handmade furniture has a special rustic charm as well a basic level of comfort not normally associated with camping. There is a composting toilet (yes – it’s perfectly pleasant to use). Our facilities are simple and meet the needs of our guests. Adventure: * sustainable experience * great nature walks close by * fantastic beaches * green getaway Accommodation: * 20 ft yurt located on Cortes Island * large private deck with ocean, mountain and sunset view * double bed (all bedding and towels provided) * wood burning stove (wood provided) * propane cook stove * self-catering * pumping cold water * composting toilet * outdoor shower * outdoor campfire * car advised, parking available * nearest amenities, Gorge Harbour Marina 4.6 km * unsuitable for people with restricted mobility * outdoors smoking permitted on this property with designated ashtrays * no pets please, because of wildlife Since shopping is limited to mainly groceries we recommend you bring: * flashlight and batteries * solid shoes * water bottle * warm clothing for cool nights * bathing suit and shoes for going in the water * sunscreen and sunhat . About Cortes Island: Cortes Island is situated at the northern end of the Salish Sea (Strait of Georgia), on Canada’s west coast, between Vancouver Island and the British Columbia mainland. Approximately 25 km long and 13 km wide, Cortes is a small paradise, and is known for its abundant wildlife and delicious shellfish. A home for artists, families and homesteaders. Cortes is home to Hollyhock, Canada’s leading educational retreat centre, world-renowned for life-long learning and skills development programs. PADMA Yurt re-treat offers an off grid experience with lots of nature and privacy. We believe in privacy. Our guests have there own acre and we do not enter their space in that time. We installed a station with a communication board next to our main driveway, where our guests can leave messages and requests for us. We are always open for questions and are more than happy to help our guests as they wish. Cortes is a small versatile community and people live very different lifestyles. You'll meet lots of artists, farmers and nature enthusiasts. PADMA Yurt re-treat is located in walking distance to one of the most gorgeous hiking trails on the island. Local upcoming 2018 events: Seafest: Sat. May 19th Creative Spaces: Sat. June 16th Cortes Day: Sat. July 21th Sandcastle Day: Sat. August 11th Love Fest: Sun. August 12th There is no public transportation on Cortes Island. We recommend to have a vehicle, although hitch-hiking is quite popular, safe and very common here on the Island. Make sure to plan enough time for the ferry sailing, since there is always the chance of overloads.
