The apt is located on a second floor of a three story walk up you would only take one step up to arrive at the door. You are invited to take full advantage of this centric location and make yourself comfortable in a home away from home. The apt is renovated and thoughtfully assembled. It has two bedrooms with AC and one full bathroom with a shower. One of the bedrooms has a queen bed and the 2nd room has a bunk bed (Full on the bottom and twin on the upper). Every room has A/C The kitchen is nice, small and comfortable for our guests to plan their meals with a standard size refrigerator and freezer. You will have everything you need to cook with kitchen essentials like pots, pans, knives and silver wear. There is no washing and dryer machine combo nut there is a laundry 2min walk for all your laundry needs. An iron and an ironing board are available for you to use whenever you need. The living room has a comfy sofa and a chair, it also includes a Smart TV for you to enjoy all your own streaming service accounts. Also Air Condition You will have full access to super fast Wi-Fi (300 megas). Guest will have access to the entire apartment Puerta de Tierra is a historical area that preserves its roots and its "barrio" feel thanks to the artistic legacy and the local artists that currently live in the area. Locals are friendly, helpful, and respectful of international travelers. It is a safe place to stay and travel to/from, a perfect base for smart travelers wanting to be near all major attractions and the beach, while experiencing an authentic local barrio with great food, landmarks, and no touristy traps. Next to the building you have Lalo's supermarket where you can buy groceries, snacks, fruits, vegetables, meds, toiletries, local/international beer, liquor and other spirits. Right across the street you have Alberto's 304, a local gem that serves Puerto Rican lunch, breakfast, and all-day-sandwiches for cheap. There is plenty of free street parking in the area and it is safe to leave your car, if you choose to rent one. We highly recommend using UBER to move around the metro area. Therefore, a little background information about El Falansterio follows. El Falansterio had been the offspring of the Great Depression. Trying to stimulate the collapsed economy, President Franklin Roosevelt had signed into law the 'Federal Emergency Relief Act', which assigned millionaire federal funding to projects that promoted the creation of new infrastructure throughout the country. Puerto Rico was no exception. Fueled by the New Deal, the island embarked in a brand new experiment to improve living conditions for indigent families, and in 1937 finished the construction of the first public housing project in its history, El Falansterio. In 1952 the residents organized the El Falansterio Housing Cooperative, with the purpose of buying the project from the Federal Government and selling the apartments to its residents.
