Our cozy wilderness cabin offers total privacy on 50 acres of old growth forest. It offers a stunning view of the North Mountain/Aspy valley out to the distant ocean. Close to Cape Breton Highlands National Park, trails, kayaking/biking, beaches & whale watching. Simple and rustic with deck, kitchenette, bed, BBQ. For weekly rentals-free kayak rental included. Not for the faint of heart with rugged driveway, steep land and wild creatures. Our space is unique as it offers a rustic and wild bit of paradise just off the Cabot Trail. If you like, you will see no one at all. The cabin is a simple one room building, well the bathroom is closed off from the rest :). It offers a deck, kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, hotplate, toaster oven, sink) with a small woodstove and BBQ outside. One of the next best features is its location here in Northern Cape Breton, just off the Cabot Trail, with access to both the eastern and western sides of the National Park. It is a short drive to stunning barrier beaches, like John Cabot's Landing Provincial Park. There are several local shops and restaurants only a short drive away. It is a WILD place though. The land is steep. The creatures are wild. This is no 5 star resort :) This is a wilderness cabin. With a flush toilet and running water. Good cell service for bell/aliant/telus customers. HST already included in price. Free kayak rentals for weekly and monthly stays available nearby. NEW for 2021 wifi :) Full access to the Cabin and the property (50acres of wild steep land, with amazing huge old maples and beeches, including a steep 2km bushwack down to about 1200ft frontage on North Aspy River, where you will be totally alone). For weekly rentals we include a free kayak rental just down the road at our kayak and bike shop. We are close by and can help out whenever needed. If you don't want us, you never have to see us either. We will provide a self guiding kit of all our favourite hikes, beaches, waterfalls and more. The area is very unique, with small communities dotting a rugged coastline. The National Park lies to the east and west of you, while the Aspy Wilderness Area stretches out in front. It is the perfect place for all your outdoor adventures. The cabin is off the world famous Cabot Trail, which is an easy to travel road right around the island. There is NO public transport. You will need to rent a car or be a really hot bicycler. There are great shops locally, however if you like fancy cheese and really nice wine you should stock up on your way, Antigonish and Sydney are the last big chain stores. Within a 20min drive there is a pharmacy, medical care and a full service grocery store. You should be prepared for a variety of weather, from hot and sunny to torrential rain.
