Nestled in the woods on the lower part of the Caren Range you will share the quiet with the visiting black tailed deer, bald eagles, squirrels and hummingbirds. Your home on the coast is designed for comfort with breathtaking views from the master bedroom and living room. A spacious kitchen is stocked with cookware and essentials for your culinary creations and dining needs. An offset smoker is yours to use on the back patio for smoking, grilling and BBQing. Or take the night off from cooking. #TheLogCabin is steps from local markets, restaurants and a wine shop to satisfy any craving. #TheLogCabin is the perfect place to do it your way. You have the entire cabin to your self Owners on site. We can also be reached by text, email or phone if you have any questions or concerns during your stay. Answers to most FAQs can be found in the guest book at #TheLogCabin Your views are of the Pacific Ocean, but this is lake country as well! Swing from a rope at Hotel Lake, do some fishing at Sakinaw Lake, or wander down the hill and stroll around Lily Lake to get a glimpse of the Painted Turtles as they sunbathe. Golfers will love how close you are staying to the Pender Harbour Golf Club. This is paddler's paradise! Some of the most beautiful water in the world to explore. (Throw in a crab trap before you head out and come back to collect your feast) The sunshine coast is a popular destination for hiking and biking with an abundance of trails to explore. Or, simply treat yourself to a spa day at the Painted Boat resort, just down the hill in Madeira Park. Do it all, or completely relax. PLACES OF INTEREST: Skookumchuck Rapids Painted Boat Spa Baker Beach Francis Point Provincial Park Katherine Lake Garden Bay Lake Mixal Lake Hotel Lake Sakinaw Lake Ruby Lake Dan Bosch Park Pender Harbour Golf Club Smuggler Cove Homesite Falls Trout Lake THINGS TO DO: Kayaking Hiking Biking Fishing Slocat Tours Water Fall Spotting MORE ON VISITING THE AREA'S LAKES AND ATTRACTIONS: LAKE COUNTRY Head 10 min North on Hwy 101 and hang a left at the Petro Can gas station. After winding through the lush coast for another 5 min you will arrive at GARDEN BAY LAKE This is a perfect spot to go for a swim, do some kayaking or fishing. There is a public dock visible from the road which is a great spot to start out. You will also notice many small docks along the way. These are great to take a picnic lunch down to or use as home base for some lake swimming for the day. Continue winding around Garden Bay Lake and hang a right where you see the sign for KATHERINE LAKE. This is a family favorite for us! Sandy kid-friendly beach on a small quiet lake with floating docks to swim out to. If you continue past the Katherine Lake turn off stay to the right and you will soon have MIXAL LAKE on your right and HOTEL LAKE on your left. HOTEL LAKE has a number of docks that make perfect picnic spots. Both of these lakes are amazing for a swim, paddling or fishing. 2 of the bigger lakes in the area are past the Petro Can gas station on Highway 101. We have yet to visit SAKINAW LAKE ourselves, but it is quite big. (First lake in the area where gas motorboats are allowed). RUBY LAKE is the largest lake in the area. A beautiful spot to head to for the day. Dan Bosch Park is a public area that has ample parking and a great area near the water. Pretty much any spot you see room to pull off the highway on this stretch is an entrance to a RUBY LAKE slice of paradise full of rope swings and clean water swimming. Past Ruby Lake is the North End of Sunshine Coast where you can catch a ferry to Powell River or hang a right and wind up at the world famous SKOOKUMCHUCK RAPIDS. Skookumchuck is a great hike (be prepared for a lengthy walk in the woods) and the reward of seeing the water movement at the end of the trail is quite something. Check the local tide charts before you go to try and get there when the water is rushing the fastest. OCEAN DESTINATIONS Head down the hill into Madeira Park and hang a right onto Beaver Island. Keep left after that and you will eventually wind up at BAKER BEACH (a true hidden gem) on the Pacific Ocean. (10 min total drive time from #TheLogCabin). Breathtaking views on this loggy and pebbly beach. Perfect for a picnic or to launch a kayak. If you stay right as opposed to left on Beaver Island and hang a left on Merrill Road you will wind up at FRANCIS POINT PROVINCIAL PARK. This is one of our favorite walking trails in the area. (10 min from the cabin). The ocean views here are quite spectacular as is the foliage, especially the thousand year old Lichen that carpets the ground on both sides of the trail. SMUGGLER COVE is a similar trail about 20 min South on Highway 101. Equally amazing views and a beautiful ocean front hike. A little further south is TROUT LAKE. We always see boats in the water on this picturesque lake. This could quite possibly be the most beautiful lake to paddle or fish on with easy access from Highway 101 in the area. HOMESITE FALLS is also nearby with lovely trails, camping and some beautiful falls to take in. Parking is free and accessible at the bottom of the driveway at #TheLogCabin. Covid-19 Statement We are taking extra care in cleaning The Log Cabin for guests during this time. Be assured that all surfaces, knobs, handles etc have been sanitized. Towels, sheets and bed linens have been washed in hot water and are ultra-clean for tour stay. These are things we would have done pre-pandemic anyways, but we thought it’s important to point out to you.
