Our house is the last on a quiet "no outlet" street on one of the best hidden coves on Lake James. But, it's only a couple hundred yards to the main channel and big mountain views. Our place & neighborhood is homey, comfortable and laid back, no posh, gated community with guardhouse here. A place to relax, fish, swim, use our 4 kayaks, hang your hammock on the dock or tie up your own boat or pontoon rental for your stay. Black Bear, Hidden Cove, or Canal Bridge are the closest boat launches. A rare find on a lovely mountain lake. House is located in one of the earliest subdivisions on Lake James. We provide 4 kayaks, paddles, and life preservers for your use. Dock has a sunny deck and shade underneath for lazing in your hammock. There are tv's with dish network in two bedrooms and the main living room, and internet/wifi (but who needs that, this is outdoor paradise!) Life is better at the lake! Apologies to mobility challenged folks. The house is older and on steep terrain so stairs are required. There are only two stairs to access the back door in the carport so getting in the house with a wheelchair or other disabilities is possible but accessing the dock would be a challenge. Also apologies for pet lovers. The bad have ruined it for the good so please don't ask. The house is shared by our family when guests are not there. We live a little over an hour away and will not intrude on your vacation. We will be glad to answer any questions prior to check in and during your stay by phone. Nearby are miles of hiking trails in Pisgah National Forest, Linville Gorge wilderness area, and Lake James State Park. A great spot for a weekend retreat or family get together. Our house is located on a nice private little cove a little away from the main channel. It is often very peaceful, sometimes even with the whole cove to yourself, with exception of some summer weekends holidays. Lake James is known for its natural beauty having thousands of acres of undeveloped and protected lake shore. The house is 50 minutes to Asheville and all it has to offer, 10 minutes to downtown Marion home of the Bigfoot Festival, and 30 minutes to Morganton. Our house is the last one on a private road. There are a few docks accessed beyond so do not block the roadway, but you are welcome to take a walk about 1/4 mile to the end of the road. Our driveway is shared so please be respectful and do not block the neighbors in or out. Parking in carport for 2 cars, in front of retaining wall for 2 cars, and along street for 2 more when needed. The gravel turn around beyond our house is the neighboring dock owners parking. Please do not park there. Thanks! The house is on a well and septic system. Our well has its limits so it will be important, especially for larger groups to be conservative with water. It's best to space your showers out by 15 minutes or so and not luxuriate for really long ones. Don't let the faucets run constantly while brushing teeth or working in the kitchen. And please do not flush anything but toilet paper. We appreciate your mindfulness and making your group aware of this request.
