Stowaway, a lakefront cottage, located on Ambajejus Lake, is minutes from Baxter State Park, Mount Katahdin, the Katahdin Woods and Waters Monument and Millinocket. Stowaway functions like home while maintaining a 'camp' feel. Enjoy amenities that include a swimming area, paddle boat, two kayaks, an outdoor fire pit, picnic area, gas grill, full kitchen, cable TV, wifi and AC. The cottage is ideal for families and/or small reunions with 2 bedrooms and 2 loft areas providing beds for up to 12. Stowaway is a 1320 square foot cottage, nestled in a quiet cove on Ambajejus Lake, close to Baxter Park. The cottage boasts two bedrooms on the first floor and two loft areas, one accessed by a cat walk. Sit in the living area and read a book while overlooking the water or enjoy an amazing view of Mt Katahdin only a short paddle away. Two kayaks and a paddle boat are included with the rental. Guests have access to the entire cottage, waterfront area, and a small hiking trail across the street. The small barn located on the property isn’t accessible by guests. We are available by phone or text during your stay for any questions or concerns. We have emergency contact numbers for the unexpected. Sometimes we are in the area during rentals, however feel it is important to give guests their space. The cottage is situated on 1.3 acres of land and is fairly private. Just a couple of miles away you can visit 3 restaurants. The Loose Moose Bar and Grill, Fredericka’s, and the River Drivers restaurants are within 2-3 miles. The Sawmill Bar and Grill and Scootic In are less than 10 miles away, in Millinocket. Additionally, the cottage is close to the North Woods Trading Post, New England Outdoor Center, several white water rafting outfits, and Baxter State Park. Traveling is best by vehicle. Unless you are on the lake. Then we recommend one of our kayaks, our paddle boat or swimming. There is a public boat launch for those who have a boat and motor and the beach area in front of the camp is suitable for landing boats. Please note that we are currently trying to only book week long stays for 2021. Also, note that the property is located in close proximity to Rock Ridge Road, the dirt access road to many camps in the area. Typically the road isn't heavily traveled, however on certain times of day or even of the season are busier than others.
