Firebrand Island Retreat is a rare and truly one of a kind experience for nature lovers, who are looking to take a break from their busy urban pace. This secluded Island getaway, with its private 1400 sq ft red ceder log Home, combines green energy with all the comforts of home. The home is powered by a 10 KW Solar unit and totally self sufficient. Replace the bustling sounds of the City with the calls of the Loons, the blinding Streetlights with the flickering glow of a campfire. Reconnect with nature. Firebrand Island is a 28 acre island situated on Paces Lake, a glacial Lake located near Musquodoboit Harbour on the Eastern shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. The cedar Log Home is located on the south side of the Island and nestled in amongst mature hemlock groves, incredible granite boulders, and thick carpets of moss. The Home features two separate bedrooms for 4 adults and a bonus loft space for kids. Both bedrooms are connected by a large shared modern bathroom, and there is a separate powder room located at the entrance. The open concept living space, with its central wood stove and large windows , overlooks the pristine lake and stunning cliff face across the water. Decks located on the South and South-West side of the Log Home are ideal for sunbathing, lounging or entertaining. The South facing Deck is partly sheltered allowing you to BBQ or sit outside and relax with a glass of wine even in the case of inclement weather. An outdoor campfire pit is located close to the House and is a great place for a memorable evening of campfire sing-along, ghost stories, roasted marshmallows, or star gazing. Firewood is always available and free of charge. As the cedar log home is the only dwelling on Firebrand Island, visitors will savour this extraordinary, once-in-a-life-time, experience of having their own private island get-away. This private lake is home to a handful of cottagers and permanent residents who all share in the lake's pristine natural beauty. The Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia is a hidden gem and offers many activities for outdoor enthusiasts. Spend a day hiking and exploring the Musquodoboit Rail Trail, a series of interconnected hiking and biking trails that follows the beautiful Musquodoboit River. The Trails range in difficulty from novice to experienced and is closed to all motorized vehicles. This is a great place for day hikes, picnics, and birdwatching. Just 20-30 min. away you can enjoy the soft white sand and surf of two of Nova Scotias most notable ocean beaches: (Clam Harbour Beach and Nova Scotia's Longest sandy beach Martinique Beach). Both beaches are supervised for swimming during the summer months and are rich spots for beach-combing, hiking, swimming and surfing. Martinique is a protected estuary for the piping plover, as well as a wildlife refuge for migratory waterfowl. For those of you who are interested in more extreme activities, one of the most notable recreational features of the Eastern Shore area is literally in our own backyard. Located directly across from Firebrand Island are two of the Provinces most renowned rock climbing faces: First Face and Main Face.
