Villa Imperial La Cabaña - Corozal, Belize
My place is close to the city center, parks, art and culture, great views, and restaurants and dining. You’ll love my place because of the location, the people, the ambiance, and the outdoors space. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (pets). However, the latter issue would have to be on request as I have two small dogs in the front part of the property one of which is a watch dog. They are separated from the rental area The Cabaña is a very cosy apartment with all the amenities of a ¨BIG APARTMENT¨¨ It is fully furnished with choice furniture and gives the atmosphere of a Mexican Cabaña. There are various Mexican Talavera Ceramic pieces throughout the living space. It has an enclosed patio area for outdoor living and safe of potential mosquito bites. It is tastefully decorated and comfortable for reading or just lounging with a cup of coffee in the morning as you read your book, or a glass of wine in the evening. There is a ceiling fan. The bedroom area has two twin beds, it is air conditioned and has a TV and an armchair for relaxing indoors. It also has a ceiling fan. The bathroom is tastefully equipped with a Talavera wash basin and has a shower stall. There is hot and cold water and a ceiling fan. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils and kitchen equipment to make cooking easy if the guest so desires. There is a breakfast nook that sits two. There is a wall fan only. There is a washer and a dryer in the property. There is a small charge of US$2.50 per load if the guests so desires to use it. The apartment is surrounded by a lush tropical garden that is in bloom throughout the year. Collecting orchids is my garden hobby and try to keep a variety of the local species. You will see Ginger Lilies, a wide array of bouganvilea in various colours, desert roses and cacti. We have a few hibiscus trees and we are trying to see where we can fit some moreThere is also an open air patio with a roof suitable for eating and just lounging. This is where I like to interact with guests. There is a gas barbeque range for outdoor cooking as well as thatch palapa for relaxing. There is potential of mosquito bites here so a mosquito repellant is an must when you pack your bags. The property is in the middle of downtown. It is easy accessible to the business section of town as well as a couple feet from the Caribbean Sea. There is a school behind our backyard but is not a deterrent for visitors not to find the property safe and secure. Some guests have expressed the view that they enjoy the sounds of happy children playing in the schoolyard or just listening to the local patois ¨Creole¨. I am always happy to interact and socialize with guests and am available when I am needed. Whenever I have to leave the property, I let my guests know so that I can take care of their needs. However, there is always someone in the property who may be able to assist in case there is a matter that needs to be taken care of. As noted we are located in the downtown area. The neighbours are friendly if the guest is friendly. They may tend to ignore you if you do not acknowledge them but that is not the case. We have noted our guests in friendly rapport with them. We are only a couple feet from the Caribbean Sea and guests sitting on the seawall will soon find out more about the nieghbours and passersby. Most of us have dogs in our yards. Some of us as house pets and some as watchdogs. We have Nina and Maxie and they soon become part of the family. Maxie is our watchdog and he will bark at anything that moves. This may not be to the liking of some of our guests but thankfully the majority of them like them. Nieghbourhood dogs can be nosiy sometimes. But again, that is part of living in a downtown area. All in all, it is very cool and friendly here. There are several restaurants around the area. While we are not frequent visitors to these places, our guests have rave reviews. There is a public park and public beaches which are also quite nice and within walking distance from the house. Corozal is proud to have a Mayan Archaeological site that is within walking distance from the property. The mural at the Town Hall is a must. It was painted by a native of Corozal. The Roman Catholic church also has two very interesting murals painted by him. The Museum is also within walking distance and is very interesting. It was the town market in olden days. There is no public transportation in town. However, if you need to go places, there are reliable taxis that will take you anywhere you want to go. There are also small shuttle buses that are used by the local populace to go to the border, the free zone and casino or to the local community hospital. We do not have a parking area in the property but it is safe to park in front of the main residence. However, there is a person around the house that will offer parking space for a small fee. Perhaps the fact that there is a public school in the backyard may impact guests. Some of them have expressed the fact that it is not a deterrent as they enjoy the sound of children playing and learning and speaking the local patois ¨Creole¨¨
