Cozy Eco Cabin - Off Grid - Connected to Nature

Beautiful rustic off-grid straw bale cabin surrounded by unspoiled nature and working ranch lands, located between Calgary and Canmore. Running water May-Oct, wood stove and old-fashioned outhouse. No indoor bathroom or shower facilities, but public facilities are available nearby. Cozy and simple with all the comforts you need. We lived in this little cabin with two toddlers for over a year while we built our house and it has everything you need to be comfortable. It is magical in the winter! Great for singles or couples or small families You are welcome to walk / explore the 40 acre fenced property around the cabin . Please do not leave the property to explore neighbouring fields/property as these are not owned by us. Always available via cell Deer, elk, coyotes and all manner of wildlife are our neighbours. We are also a working farm (sheep, horses, chickens, ducks). You will find peace and quiet of a rare kind, with 40 acres of unspoiled, native prairie landscape all around you. The town of Cochrane is a short 15 minutes drive (all amenities), we are 5 minutes drive from the Trans-Canada Highway which will get you to the mountains in about 45 minutes or to Calgary in 20 minutes. The cabin is a perfect base camp for the rockies. Linens and firewood are provided. Water is provided in jugs through winter, there is running water in warm seasons (May - Oct). Fully stocked kitchen. There is a chopping block and axe for splitting wood. There are candles and some LED/solar lanterns on hand as well. No electricity- the cabin is entirely off grid and does not have solar or other energy sources hooked in. Hiking, Cross country skiing and snowshoeing around the 4o acres possible. Outdoor fire pit with picnic table, fire grill and great views. Comfortable in all seasons, allow an hour or two in winter (depending on temps) to get the place up to temperature when you arrive and cabin will hold the heat very well. Farm fresh eggs are available for 7$/dz- please request at time of booking to ensure we hold some for you. They are in high demand! Cash jar in cabin- honour system payment. There is a ground box behind cabin, which also has room for your cooler. This acts as a fridge in warmer seasons, or freezer in winter.
