On the lower floor, the two bedrooms each have their own bathroom and balconies. Adjacent to the villas is a large jacuzzi and wood burning sauna, a covered shared lounge area and a fireplace. Here you can relax, have a drink or a meal and perhaps, meet another traveler who like you, has come to explore this small, exotic country. You can wander down to the shore of the lake, through the fruit and coffee trees on the property and once there; swim read a book or just sit and watch the local fishermen. In addition, we can arrange extra services to enhance your stay at Villas Km5. Upon request: a local cook can come and prepare fresh and authentic meals throughout the day or evening, a trained masseuse can be arranged for on-site massages, a local driver can accompany you on sightseeing adventures and the guardian who lives on the estate, is always on hand to provide information on where to go and what to see. Perfectly nestled on the hillside of Lake Atitlan, Villas Km5 allows for full escape, peace, and privacy… Villas Km5 is just 2 hours and 30 minutes by taxi or bus from the international airport in Guatemala City and just 20 minutes away by helicopter. For those wishing to venture further afield, Lake Atitlan is an excellent base from which to explore the country. The property offers panoramic views of the neighboring villages and the lake’s three majestic volcanoes: Atitlan, Toliman and San Pedro. Just a few minutes to the Panajachel, (Pana) dock and you can charter a number of private boats to take you to any of the 14 Indigenous villages surrounding the lake. Alternatively, take the public boats and meet the locals as they travel to and from their villages. Pana is one of the larger towns on the lake with plenty to do and see. Eat at one of the many good restaurants to taste the local fare, explore the village fruit, vegetable and flower markets and watch Mayan women create beautiful, woven textiles in the marketplace. In the village of Santa Catarina, 5 minutes by Tuk Tuk from Villas Km5, you will find hand-woven tapestries, paintings and ceramics. The main street and those running off it, are filled with quaint shops bursting with artisanal offerings from the villagers. Follow the main street down to the shores of the lake or venture to the top of the village where you will find, onion and corn plantations. Stand amongst the fields of flowers overlooking the village and soak up the beautiful views of Lake Atitlan. Feeling more adventurous try: the zip-line through the forests on the mountainside, walk up to the local waterfall from where the views are breathtaking, or venture further on a hike up to the volcanic peaks. Just about an hour away from the lake, you can take tours of Guatemalan coffee plantations or explore the World Heritage listed old city architecture of Antigua. End your days with a drink at one of the many hotels, local bars, or relax at Villas Km5 and watch the sun set through the peaks of the volcanoes. Guest will have access to our private beach, gardens and outdoor facilities. It includes a comfortable outdoor living room area with ample seating a fireplace and adjacent Jacuzzi, sauna and changing room/shower area. All of this overlooking the lake and volcanoes. This our holiday property that we use occasionally. However we do have wonderful staff, they will look after you from the moment you arrive to the moment you depart.
