The island/breakwater in front of our property creates a "cove" like feel allowing more opportunity to swim and for novice kayakers. Paddle through Prospect village, under the bridge and into a calm barachois, or the more experienced can venture to the open Ocean. Hike the High Head coastal trail, or simply relax on our deck, taking in the view of Nature Conservancy land and Ocean. A 20 minute drive in either direction along the 333, takes you to Halifax city or renown Peggy's Cove. The advertised space (Main House/Apartment 1) consists of the entire upstairs and front half of the house. It has its own front door access and includes: equipped kitchen; large living room; 2 bedrooms each with queen size bed; 2 full bathrooms; laundry/storage room; decks on the side and front of house; front yard and access to our oceanfront portion of the property. Not accessible to guests of Apt 1, is the “In-Law Suite” (Apt #2) unless the same guest rents both and so allowing for two more in the group to a maximum of 6 (the unit consists of 1 bedroom with queen bed; full bath; living room; kitchen). Our photo's speak well enough on the uniqueness of our location, so I'll focus on some of the ways that we as hosts shine. We provide breakfast items to start you off: eggs, bacon, juice, ground coffee, tea, coffee cream, milk, cereal, bread, butter, jam, fruit, spices, sugar, flour... & a few other basics, all of which are on hand so guests can make their own breakfast on the first morning of arrival. If Guests stay 2+ weeks, this gives more opportunity for us to offer things like cooking one of our signature breakfasts (if we're available, and of course if guests are willing). On 2 separate occasions during our first month of operation, Guests asked if we would give lessons on how to get the lobster out of the shell (we agreed, and yes there is an art to it!). Our land goes down to the shoreline and is accessible to guests staying in either of the two apartments. The portions of the main house (Apartment 1), the decks, and the front yard as per this listings photo's are accessible to only the guests staying in Apartment 1. Each apartment is self contained, with their own private entrance and heat pump. It is possible for one guest to occupy both apartments if they are both available at the same time, and this being the case, we can offer a bit of a discount if the stay is a full week or longer. The "boathouse" at the waterfront, shed, basement, wood working shop/garage, and back garden are not accessible to guests . We (host and/or co host) are usually at the boathouse or in the back apartment if it is available. If requested (if we are available, and weather permitting) we can take guests to some of our favourite kayaking destinations (we do have kayaks (4) that guests can use, but rules apply ie: we must accompany participants on the excursion; we determine the kayak route and duration... ; participants must sign a waiver, agree to practice safe and responsible kayaking ie: wear a life jacket, and agree to our having the final say while on the excursion ie: if we determine that it's necessary to turn back, participants must do so as well). There is also the option of bringing your own kayak or renting one from a local supplier. . The spectacular views and access to the Ocean, Quaint Prospect Village, Nature Conservancy land accessible via a myriad of trails, near by islands. The village has a new playground, picnic areas and the village wharf is a great spot to fish or swim. We are located outside the city of Halifax and so there is no public transit, the nearest city bus stop is about 20 minute away. There's a small convenience store (Peter's) and fresh produce market (Mabel's) about 5 minute drive away. When here, it's a hikers haven-- Prospect village that begins at the bottom of our street, is breathtaking and wonderful to walk through. Just outside our door is protected Nature Conservancy land with its popular High Head Trail that hugs the coast. —Guests staying two weeks or more can use laundry facility (up to 2 loads a week). —Either myself or cohost are generally on the property (usually at the boathouse on the waterfront portion of the property). There is a smaller furnished apartment (1 bedroom with queen bed; full bath; living room; kitchen) at the back of the house that for an extra charge can be available if the guest would like the entire house for extra privacy or to allow two more in your group to a maximum of 6.
