Colonial-style house, away from the bustle
Charming and secluded colonial-style house (2B) in the traditional San Felipe area, 15 min from Oaxaca's historic center. Brand-new rooftop terrace overlooking the mountains. The two-floor house is secluded, cozy and quiet, and full of plants –a little oasis in the quaint San Felipe del Agua area of Oaxaca. A new rooftop terrace offers views of the mountains. On walking distance to the weekly market ("tianguis"), a colonial church and aqueduct, and the award-winning Sports City Oaxaca. A short bus ride (15 min) takes you directly to downtown Oaxaca. Ideal for relaxed stays. Common areas, brand-new rooftop terrace, meditation room. This is been my house for several years, and I love it and take good care of it. I'm renting so that I can afford to travel to do Buddhist retreats, both in Mexico and abroad. San Felipe del Agua is an exclusive yet traditional area of Oaxaca, with cobblestone streets, old colonial houses, and a beautiful view of the San Felipe mountains. At its center, there is a quaint 17th-century church and the 18th-century aqueduct that provided water to the city (hence the name), and a weekly little market. There's a great public park with a wonderful open-air gym and a children's library and the award-winning Sports City Oaxaca is a short stroll away. While the are is quiet and residencial, there's many dining options on walking distance. The house is ideal for visitors with car, or who want to spend their time exploring Oaxaca but sleeping away from the bustle of downtown and it's noisy public transportation. It's also great for longer stays, and many of our guests quickly develop a little routine around the area. The buses that go straight to downtown Oaxaca (15-20 min.) are conveniently located a block away from the house.
