Seymour Lake Guesthouse
This private timber-framed guesthouse is a stone's throw from Seymour Lake and a ten minute drive from downtown Smithers. It has beautiful wood furnishings, a king-sized bed, a fully-stocked kitchen, and is situated on a large forested property. Our place is perfect for couples looking to get away; fishers, hunters, and skiers searching for a home base; and travellers wanting to experience the British Columbian wilderness. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate kids due to the lake front access. Our 600-square-foot guesthouse is a perfect place to relax for couples and small groups. It includes a living room, a full kitchen, a bathroom with a double headed shower along with a guest washer and dryer, and a wood table for dining. Two beds are available: a luxurious king-sized bed in the upstairs loft and a pullout double bed in the living space. The open loft concept means there is lot of natural light and no distinct sleeping rooms. Heating is your choice of electric baseboard or a cozy wood stove. The guesthouse is surrounded by a large forested property with many trails to walk, snowshoe, and cross country ski. The guesthouse shares a small gravel beach on Seymour Lake with the main house where you can find a small electric sauna and a canoe and two hard shell paddleboards for you to use. You have access to the full guesthouse and are free to come and go as you please using a private drive. A long-term rental cabin is 50 metres away but is separated from the guesthouse by trees and a large barn ensuring your privacy during your stay. If it’s your first stay with us, we’ll try our best to meet you when you arrive and settle you in. Afterwards, we’ll be a text or phone call away should you need anything – including top-ups of any supplies and firewood. We’re more than happy to suggest places to eat, hike, and visit during your time in Smithers and the Bulkley Valley. Our neighbours are the moose, the bears and the birds. Staying at this guesthouse will get you right out into nature and you are welcome to travel through our neighbouring forest through the trails we've cut through over 200 acre property. A map of the property will be provided for your stay so you can go explore it yourself. Our guesthouse has a private drive that has its own two car parking space and you can easily come and go from the property as you please. We are a twenty minute bike ride and ten minute drive from main street Smithers. We are also only a thirty minute drive from the Hudson Bay downhill ski area and an even shorter drive from the Pine Creek cross country ski trails. Free wifi is provided but it is not equipped for streaming or other high bandwith usage. Most cellphone carriers get good coverage in our location. We have animals on our property – both wild and domesticated. You might see a moose or meet the family dogs, Ruby and Ryder, while walking the property’s trails. Our dogs are very friendly and will become your best friend if you throw a ball for them. The stairs to the loft where the main bed are quite steep. It is not suited for people with mobility concerns or small children. Our property is a lake front location therefore we are unable to host children due to liability concerns. Unfortunately, we do not provide breakfast to guests. We’re happy to give you a list of kitchen equipment to help you plan your stay before you arrive. Our driveway is one kilometre of gravel and dirt. During the winter it gets ploughed semi-regularly, but it is by no means an officially maintained road. Notify us before your arrival if you have limited experience with winter driving or any concerns about rural driving.
