We ask you to keep the kitchen clean and the floors swept or vacuumed. Our beachfront home in Mamala Bay is on the sunny side of Oahu with a view of Diamond Head, Waikiki, Ala Moana and more. The entrance to Pearl Harbor and Honolulu Harbor are in Māmala Bay. The view from Hale Kai Ewa is amazing and life on the beach is exciting. During the summer we can experience King Tides when the ocean waves breach our sea wall. King Tides are a normal occurrence once or twice a year in coastal areas. To avoid any damage to the property, we have installed a retaining wall, but with global warming, we will be underwater when the seas rise a foot. The weather in Ewa Beach has gotten warmer along with the rest of the world, so we covered the lanai with a roof running the length of the house and extended a brick patio within the retaining wall. There's lots of room for outdoor meetings and entertainment. You can have your zoom meeting with a real ocean background. We also did a little renovating inside the house. We put in a new vinyl floor system and an all white kitchen with a new sink, marble counter tops, modern European cabinetry, and new stainless steel appliances. The new cabinets look great, but we have a little problem with the lazy susan. We're still working with the contractor on finishing touches to the remodel. I do like the dishwasher. We installed Mitsubishi split system air conditioners in the master bedroom and the second bedroom. We have a bonus room with a futon couch-full bed for 2 children or the extra guest. The kitchen is equipped with microwave, Breville toaster oven, Corelle dishware, glassware, cookware, coffee pot, blender, and other small appliances.. You can join the excitement downtown or sit on the beach lawn and enjoy the Honolulu city lights. The view of Diamond Head is unobstructed. The sunrise is warm and wonderful. Please use a sunscreen with zinc oxide--has no oxybenzone--to protect you from the sun's rays and not bleach coral. Use protective clothing (hats and SPF clothing) whenever you can and use sunscreen sparingly. Ewa Beach Road has a small, sleepy beach-town atmosphere. The colorful sunsets are relaxing and the moon is cause for song. You can watch endangered birds, sea life, and flora from the lawn or sit with the sandcrabs on the beach. Spend quality family time tucked away in a well-furnished, traditional, beachfront home on sunny Ewa Beach Road with the convenience of shopping centers, banks, restaurants (personal favorite is Russo's coal-fired pizzas), and snackbars (D'lish by the Sea) just a mile away. Get the local experience and have Karen, your host, show you everyone's favorite swimming spot. Our local experience includes ukulele playing neighbors and watching them fish, relaxing on the patio at sunset, and walking the natural shoreline from dawn to dusk. The ever present sand crabs fascinate the children. They are fine on the beach, but in our tropical climate, sand crabs and bugs will enter the house if you're not careful with cleaning up and storing food. The colorful sunsets are relaxing and the moon is cause for song. Have a romantic dinner at sunset under the lanai (Hawaiian for covered patio). Help yourself to the oregano, moringa olivera, and seasonal limes. Hawaii continues with the state’s Safe Travels pre-travel testing program, even for fully vaccinated passengers. Travelers must have their negative test results from a state approved lab prior to departing as an alternative to Hawaii’s mandatory 10-day quarantine. Honolulu County has also mandated that short-term rentals cannot be less than 30 days (no discounts for early checkouts)--unless the host has a permit. So, unless you've got a lot of vacation time, work from home, or are retired, we are unable to help you with a reservation for less than 30 days. More than 2 million butts were found on our coastal shores on one day of cleanup. That's twice the amount of food wrappers and containers found on that day. Our shore birds eat the butts and die of starvation. We need to step up and help our environment to be able to continue to be the paradise everyone enjoys.
