Cedar Ridge Lodge is a Family home - located on a hillside, just ten minutes from the centre of town in a quiet cul-de-sac overlooking the blues and greens of the Caribbean sea. The Blue room easily accommodates up to five persons with an en-suite bathroom. It is suitable for couples families or sharing friends. Cedar Ridge Lodge Inn is a home hostel, it is located approximately 10 / 15 minutes from the centre of the town and is serviced by ROUTE (shared taxi). It is off the beaten track, a little away from the town, but easily accessible. It is close to a large shopping plaza with all services. It is an art space, reading space, ‘lying-in-a-hammock chillin space. It is family run and is a space in which to be comfortable, safe and cared for. We are very experienced and knowledgeable. Our advantage to you - is that our staff understand how to guide best guide and give support to you and your friends as you travel around the island. Guest Access When you stay at Cedar Ridge you become a member of the family, you are invited to make the space your home, you will be blown away be the wonderful balcony, or you can venture into the garden and enjoy the open spaces - under a tree, or lying on the grass. This is where many guests do yoga or read a book or just have a quiet moment. In fact anywhere around Cedar Ridge, spaces, can be 'captured' and personalized, to meet the mood and moment. Non-residents are welcomed, but not encouraged within the home. The house is fully alarmed and monitored by the local security company. Interactions The house is full of information, support and helping hands: there is a housekeeper / manager - Ms. Madge, and the live in student - Lisa, from time to time there are other persons from the Rastafari Village that lend an hand in meeting the needs of guests. I am also available to give support and interactions as the needs arise. The house is affiliated to the Rastafari Indigenous Village and other community projects and activities. Please ask if interested in volunteering at community projects or in supporting any of these educational experiences. The neighborhood is best described as a small hillside community with four homes on the road (Cedar Ridge) but many homes on the hill (Bogue HILL). A narrow road takes the traveler up the steep hill, from the main road revealing a stunning, mesmerizing and unique view of the coastline as it rises. It is very green and lush and walkers love the experience of the steep hill challenge. Travelers get around by ROUTE TAXI (shared US$1.50) mostly to the bus park. The bus park is located in the town, (there is a Bus Park in every town across the island. It is a short walk around the town or to the beach or if needed to get a taxi to other parts of the town or the country. There is also a BOOKED OR CHARTER taxi service available for night outings or other private bookings. This can be much more expensive. Travelers can also book tourist tours through us with advanced notice or by visiting one of the local tour operators. There is a luxury coach service around the island city-to-city called the "Knutsford Express" which we recommend highly because of its efficiency and safety, it is a little more expensive but much more reliable, comfortable and organized. Cedar Ridge Lodge Inn is a ‘home’ hostel. It is located approximately 10 / 15 minutes from the centre of the town, the beaches, shopping and even the airport if the traffic depending on traffic conditions. The general area is serviced by the ROUTE (shared) taxi system and we support guests with a listing of local drivers. Cedar Ridge, is the name of the road on Bogue Hill, in the Bogue Community, it is off-the-beaten track, away from the hustle and bustle of the town, but easily accessible on the usually green quiet hillside with an awesome balcony view. It is close to a large shopping plaza with all services. It is an art space, a reading space, a ‘lying-in-a-hammock chillin' space, most of all it’s a no-stress space a wonderful start point for your Jamaica experiences. It is family run and is a space, in which to be comfortable, safe and cared for. Our Housekeeper Ms. Madge is experienced in what she does and Lisa is knowledgeable about things to do and places to go, it is important to ask for whatever is needed. Both persons support - in guiding the movements of our travelers by providing answers with honesty, clarity, accuracy and integrity. Other things to note; We recommend that travelers move around with a cell phone, preferably bringing an old unlocked one so that they can purchase a local SIM card to make calls for onward bookings or otherwise. We have wifi in the house so communication is easy. We provide the following listing for travelers to bring: •own toiletries •favorite dried cereals •nuts and grains •cheese if you love it •mosquito repellent, sun block, any medication you use or may need •and a fold up raincoat. These things can be expensive here and almost all our guests engage with them. Cedar Ridge is also a part of a community of Rastafari and we often make donations to their development: Guests often ask what to bring for donations: the response is "art and craft making stuff" we also say: first-aid stuff bandages, scissors, gloves etc. or agricultural tools or organic seeds, and we also say...bring whatever you feel would be good to donate to community development - pencils, paper, crayons etc.
