First thing is location and then the position of our casa, which make possible to experience and enjoy (from our charming, greenery-draped terrace) beautiful, romantic sunsets over the bay and the Sierra Maestra mountains afar, as well as the occasional gentle tropical breeze, all this right in the middle of a somewhat dense urban area, only 4 min-walk from main square Parque Cespedes, the cathedral and all the action. We have two other rooms which you can book via the two links we have included below: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5884777?s=67&shared_item_type=1&virality_entry_point=1&sharer_id= (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/17814948?s=67&shared_item_type=1&virality_entry_point=1&sharer_id= (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Start your day with an energizing breakfast and enjoy our deliciously real home-cooked food -fresh and organic ingredients (full vegetarian options available), from our most traditional recipes -full, rich and genuine Cuban flavours guaranteed, refreshing cocktails, drinks, beer and beautiful Cuban traditional music. Our casa is located right at the entrance of Tivoli neighborhood (former French quarter in colonial times) a place with plenty of history and traditions. We are just a block away from the renowned Padre Pico steps, a section of the slopy street by the same name carved into 52 steps, which was the scenario of many historic events back in the revolutionary process. "El Tivoli" is an authentic, quintessential Cuban neighborhood, perfect to step into the real Cuba. Our work and satisfaction lie on achieving that you feel that our casa is certainly a home away from home. There are communal areas, such as the living room, the first floor middle terrace and the main terrace (where breakfasts and dinners are served), which are shared with other guests. Relax at our little, yet peaceful and charming terrace framed by beautiful greenery and hanging flowers whilst enjoying a beverage of your preference or sharing with your family, friends or fellow guests. Our main terrace offers nice views and is a fun convergence point for travelers from all over the world. We like to get to know our guests as much as possible. The emblematic Tivoli neighborhood of Santiago de Cuba with its steep streets and flanked by tall, high façade houses that face the sea, alleys and hills, mixes up the cultural syncretism and ethnic exchanges of the Cuban nationality. It had an urban boost in the heat of the Haitian Revolution in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. This very Cuban and authentic neighborhood belongs to the French memory of the city of Santiago de Cuba. Its geographical location adjacent to the historic center allows for easy-walking access to most points of touristic interest. The layout of the Tivoli neighborhood has several peculiarities that typify it: the tall houses facing the sea -reminiscent of eagle's nests. Its many alleys and hills, one of the steepest one is that of “Los Desamparados” (The Homeless in English), with the church of the same name standing at its top. Wrought iron railings in southwest French style on balconies and windows replaced the wooden bars and balusters. This architecture of façades with sets of S-shaped rhombuses is considered the most typical of the country, with corridors and hanging balconies. Our street, Santa Rita, also known as Diego Palacios (being Santa Rita the old name, more traditional and more used by locals) and all other parallel streets of the Tivoli roll down to the west, ending on the avenue that borders the port known as La Alameda, where the park of the same name is located, Santiago de Cuba's malecon, as well as a number of eateries and places for drinks, such as Cerveceria Puerto del Rey, serving craft beers; The Club Nautico restaurant, The Rum Factory, where the Rum Museum is located, as well as several shops. La Alameda Avenue also leads to the Viazul bus station the train terminal. Tivoli neighborhood is also the place where the ever musical and traditional "La Casa de las Tradiciones a.k.a. La Casona is located, and also the place where the annual Feria del Tivoli (Tivoli Fair) is celebrated. The neighborhood provides quick and easy access to both broadly promoted and off-the-beaten-path tours and points of interest and activities for travelers and also easy access to public trasnportation. Our neighborhood is be the perfect locality where to experience the real Cuba from a safe location. A supervised parking area is available on San Pedro St., by the cathedral and Parque Cespedes, only 4-min walk from our place, at approximately CUC 3.00 per night. Benefiting from a convenient location, all distances within the city are easily walkable. There are several bus stops nearby, although we do not encourage the use of public transportation, as it is usually not very reliable and uncomfortable for the average foreign visitor; however, booking private and state-run taxis is possible at our casa upon request. Spanish and basic English is spoken some of our family members.
