The Viewhouse - Hinterwood Inn & Cabins
We are Hinterwood Inn & Cabins. Find us online for additional property photos and reviews. The Viewhouse sleeps up to 6 adults & 2 children, or 7 adults max. It has 3 bedrooms (each with a queen bed, full bathroom, a gas fireplace) and a living room couch that folds down. It's centrally located to major attractions with beautiful views. Enjoy privacy and hiking right from the property. It's on two levels which requires use of stairs, but there is an alternative entrance if stairs are an issue. This vacation rental is a part of Hinterwood Inn & Cabins in Keystone, SD. The property, and the Black Hills area itself, has limited cell reception. We have satellite internet for the wifi, which is NOT the blazing fast speeds you're likely used to. It's enough to communicate and send emails, but it's not ideal for streaming. It's recommended to have movies or TV shows downloaded to your devices in advance if you need to. Otherwise, we have a DVD player and some movies in the space for you — but we recommend getting distracted by the forest, the stars, or the fire pit in exchange for watching TV. ;) More about Hinterwood: Hinterwood is nestled in a quiet valley in the Black Hills of South Dakota and is centrally located to all the nearby attractions, including a 7.3 mile drive to the Mt. Rushmore National Monument. The Hinterwood property encompasses nearly 20 acres of a peaceful valley bordered by Black Hills National Forest to the North and East. Guests can walk right out their front door for a beautiful hike on public lands. Among other trails and Forest Service roads to walk, you will have quick access to the noteworthy Centennial Trail, which is a 111-mile hiking trail that stretches through the Black Hills from Bear Butte to Wind Cave. The Centennial Trail will also lead you to Horse Thief Lake for a swim after just a ~25 minute hike. Hinterwood is located between Keystone (which is at the base of Mt. Rushmore) and Hill City on Old Hill City Road. We're approximately 5 miles from Keystone and 6 miles from Hill City — both of which have shopping, dining, and exploring opportunities. The neighborhood is quiet with beautiful views and lots of wild life. The property is located off Old Hill City Road (paved), but our driveway is flat and graveled (approximately 1000 ft.). Since there are no hills, cars make it here just fine. However, in the winter months it might be best to have a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
