Welcome to the HIDEWAY CHALET. A WATERFRONT LAKEHOUSE (swim,boat,fish) in a private setting directly on spring fed, crystal clear Lake Mattawa. Large, flat backyard with the tranquil sounds of a waterfall at the edge of the property. Open concept living with a wood fireplace and pellet stove. The house is well designed and provides a beautiful, quiet setting for your vacation. NEW: KITCHEN AND FIRST FLOOR BATH REMODEL completed in June 2021. New pictures are in the listing. As you enter the house from the kitchen you immediately see the lake from across the room. It’s amazing how relaxed you feel the moment you walk in the house. There are hardwood floors throughout and wood beams in the ceiling that give it a rustic feel. Most of the house has been recently updated and has an open concept design. The internet works great and we have "YouTube TV" for live TV. There is a DVD player in the finished basement and we have a bunch of movies you can use. We also have a few classic board games. There is an iPhone charger and a Bluetooth speaker. There are two new kayaks, a canoe and floats for your use. We have 3 adult life jackets and 2 kid size life jackets. Youth less than 12 must wear jackets while boating and from 9/15 through May 15 adults must wear them while in the boat. During the summer months adults don’t have to wear the jackets but they must have them in the boats. The house comes with a brown carport that fits 2 cars. In the months when there is no snow, you can park in the road next to the house. You have access to the entire property There is a lockbox for entry. If you need assistance during your stay, just send me a note or call. This is a very quiet wooded area and the house sits on 1.75 acre. The view of the lake is great with a large, flat back yard that leads directly to the lake. There is a dirt road to get to the house. In the winter you will want to have an AWD vehicle in case there is snow (if no snow, you’ll be fine). Please refer to the pictures on the site to make sure you don’t miss the turn for the driveway. You’ll need a car to get to shopping, restaurants and local attractions. I recommend getting your groceries first so that you don’t have to go back out shopping. Boston = 76 Miles, Worcester = 40 Miles, Springfield= 41 Miles, Amherst = 21 Miles, Brattleboro VT 29 Miles You’ll want a car to get around. If you want to fish, you can get a 3 day fishing license at the Walmart in Orange. For MA residents it’s $12.5 (around $23 for out of stare). You can buy fishing licenses online when you go to the Massachusetts Government website as well. Sky diving is a big attraction at the Orange Airport. You can do an online search for "Jumptown" in Orange Massachusetts and view their website for details. Hulu is using Orange as the set location for the show CastleRock. They recently finished filming in the late summer of 2019.
