Built in 1869 and restored in 2001, this 2 story carriage house is set on an acre of land in the village of Cherry Valley, nestled between the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains. Surrounded by gorgeous gardens, tall trees, stunning fall foliage, you have the sense of total privacy along with the convenience of walking around the corner to enjoy the local restaurants. The house includes 2 bedrooms with a 3rd sleeping area, 2 baths, a large kitchen and a beautiful working fire place in a sunken living room, with a downstairs sun room, an upstairs vine covered deck and a large family room. Plenty of space for a large family, and a washer and dryer are on site. For you history buffs, Cherry Valley was an important link between the Mohawk and the other Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy. In 1738, the village, originally known as The Lindesay Patent, which was land in the Mohawk Valley under King George, later became known as Cherry Valley, the site of the Cherry Valley Massacre, one of the most notorious events of the Revolutionary War on November 11, 1778. And yes, George Washington slept here! Cherry Valley was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 and you can visit the Cherry Valley Museum for more about the village’s place in history. Cherry Valley is rich with artistic endeavors. CV Artworks hosts a series of concerts, openings and events such as the international kite festival and the sculpture trail, right in the center of town. Within 15 minutes you have Cooperstown, rich with culture, history and sports. The home of James Fennimore Cooper and his Leatherstocking Tales as well as the Home of The National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Glimmerglass Festival and the Farmers and Fennimore Museum, there is something going on for everyone. Perhaps you want to do nothing but relax, ride a bike or rent a boat and enjoy the beautiful Otsego Lake. Or you can visit historic Sharon Springs (13 miles away). There are multiple golf courses, biking and hiking trails and antique shops in every direction. If there is something you are particularly interested in doing let me know and I will help you arrange it.
