Harkers Island Hideaway - Your waterfront retreat with private beach along the southern Outer Banks! Enjoy all that North Carolina’s Crystal Coast region has to offer! Close proximity to the tourism centers of Beaufort, Morehead City, and Atlantic Beach...but just secluded enough to get away from the crowds. Let our unique coastal gem be your home away from home! Sunbathing on your private beach, kayaking in the bay, dolphin viewing from the back porch...there are many things that make Harkers Island Hideaway unique. A short drive to historic downtown Beaufort, Morehead City’s famous waterfront, and the Atlantic Beach boardwalk. We are available through Airbnb messenger or by phone if you need us. We do not have a dedicated property manager but do have contacts in the area to help us with any urgent guest needs. The tranquility and serenity of Harkers Island is what sets it apart from the busier, more crowded tourist areas in Carteret County. There are limited retail and restaurant options on the island, but everything you need is just a short car or bike ride away. Restaurants: Sea Side Galley Restaurant - 5 minutes (2.3 miles) Fish Hook Restaurant - 5 minutes (2 miles) Crossroads Pizza - 12 minutes (7.4 miles) Retail: Dollar General Grocery Store - 5 minutes (1.7 miles) Billy’s Grocery and Hardware - 5 minutes (2.1 miles) Midway Mart - 5 minutes (1.9 miles) Attractions: Harkers Island Public Beach Access- 6 minutes (2.8 miles) Harkers Island Visitors Center / Island Express Ferry Service - 8 minutes (4.1 miles) Core Sound Waterfowl Museum - 8 minutes (3.9 miles) Harkers Island Fishing Center - 5 minutes (2.1 miles) Harkers Island is only accessible by car or boat, but we recommend bringing your bicycle or scooter for a leisurely ride around the island. Parking - Driveway and carport space is limited. No more than 2 vehicles allowed in the driveway or on property at any time. Please DO NOT use any of our neighbors driveways to turn around or to do any sort of 3-point turn. Please simply reverse all the way down the driveway to exit. The driveway is plenty wide for even the largest of vehicles. Garbage Disposal - We have arranged for private trash pickup every Monday. Please ensure all trash is in the trash cans with the lids secured (no over filling) every Sunday night for the Monday pickup. Also, please make sure no trash is ever left outside of the trash cans, even if in bags. The animals and the wind will scatter the trash all over the yard and onto our neighbor’s property. If all bags of trash do not fit in the trash cans with the lids secured, the excess trash must be disposed of. There is a Carteret County Sanitation facility just off the island about a 10 minute drive.
