PRIVATE TERRACE in BEST location of Old San Juan!
At the Blue Room we follow Airbnb's Enhanced Cleaning Protocol and use a UV/Ozone light after each guest's departure. A completely renovated, fully-equipped and air-conditioned apartment with a terrace overlooking one of Old San Juan’s most visited streets. The Blue Room is located in a well-preserved 320-year old building, with gorgeous wide stairs, Hispanic tiles, 26” thick masonry walls and original wood beams. There is no elevator. At 660 sqf, the Blue Room is bigger than most hotel rooms. The 'Blue Room' was our safe haven while our own place was being renovated just across the hall. We enjoyed it very much and it truly felt like home. The large, private terrace facing East by itself makes staying in the 'Blue Room' worthwhile. It bathes the apartment with plenty of light from early morning and eventually becomes the perfect place for evening drinks and refreshments under a canopy of lights and under the stars. You will find watching and hearing the action in Old San Juan unfold down below to be very entertaining. Among the things we liked the most was living upstairs from an art gallery which features works from the famed artist who owned the building many decades ago. And, of course, we loved being so close to the action in Old San Juan without having to worry about keys: all access doors to the building and the 'Blue Room' have combination codes. The 'Blue Room' is a very quiet, well-appointed and sun-drenched space, unlike many of the noisy, small and dark spaces one can find in Old San Juan. We ourselves stayed in a few of them prior to becoming homeowners! This is why we made it a point to turn the 'Blue Room' into a spacious, sunny place where our guests, and sometimes our family, can relax and unwind after a day walking around the old city or enjoying any of the nearby beaches. We also added safety features for our peace of mind, such as an in-room safe, a smoke and CO alarm detector, motion-activated lights and a security camera for the common areas. I will be available to my guests when needed, by phone, text or Airbnb messaging The ‘Blue Room’ is located on one of Old San Juan’s oldest and most visited streets, only 30 yards away from the almost 500-year old Cathedral (in 2021) and steps away from the corner of Fortaleza Street that leads to the Governor’s beautiful mansion. Restaurants, bars, shops, art galleries and gorgeous views of the ocean are literally ‘around the corner’. Everything in Old San Juan is walking distance from the 'Blue Room': El Morro, the Cathedral, the Port, the Governor's Palace, to name a few. You really don’t need a car. We have been homeowners in Old San Juan for a while now and have never felt the need to have a car. Of course, you do need transportation to get in-and-out of the old city. And for that we really love Uber (buses are available but the schedule is unreliable). We recommend you walk one block to the Plaza de Armas and request your Uber from there, and ask to be dropped back there when you come back. It will be much faster to get going and to arrive because our building is on a very busy street, with many tourists up and about. If you plan to rent a car, there is a Hertz location at the Sheraton in front of the cruise port (they require advance reservations to ensure car availability). The car can be parked without a permit in the street in front of our building but only if you are lucky enough to find a spot in our busy street (only homeowners can have a permit to park in other adjacent streets). Your best bet is to park at the many garages nearby. We suggest reviewing Puerto Rico COVID mandates before reserving. These change often given the changing nature of the SARS-COVID 19 virus.
