Our guardian Miguel Lucas and our two maids Veronica and Benita are here while we are not around and they are also part of the local community and can assist with anything guests might need. Jaibalito is the smallest and most quaint town on the Lake. With only 1000 inhabitants, mostly local Mayan families people often find this the most authentic village on the Lake. Still not overexploited by Tourism Jaibalito maintains its small town familiar vibe but also has many restaurant options, organic gardens, small market and a Posada baking fresh bread every day, offering free range eggs and other produce and some of the best coffee in Guatemala. Jaibalito is the only town on the Lake not accesible by car. There are no roads in town but it is only a short 15 minute boat ride from main town of Panajachel- entry point to the lake. You can visit pretty much any town by boat from Jaibalito. The house is the only one on the mountain top and it is a 10- 15 minutes hike up from the town. - The hike up can be demanding for some people so put on your best shoes and go slowly. Our guardian will help you up with your bags and groceries. - Our solar powered system does not have the capacity for items such as hair dryer, toaster etc but we have very reliable WIFI even in rainy season where most towns have power outages
