Owners live off-site but by are available by cell phone 24/7 in case of emergency. A neighborhood kid stops by the back yard twice a week to feed our outdoor cats, who do not venture near the house. You’ll have all the privacy you need. Emory Decatur Hospital is located within walking distance (1 mile) of our home. The Springdale Heights neighborhood in Decatur is known for its safety, quiet streets, and friendly neighbors — please take a stroll around the block and meet some of our neighbors and their dogs. If you’re sitting out on the front porch swing, please greet our neighbors as they walk by! We are within 3 miles of Emory and CDC, 1 mile to the Avondale MARTA station, 1.5 miles to the shops, pubs, and high-end restaurants of downtown Decatur. You can also easily walk to North Decatur/Suburban Plaza: Starbucks, LA Fitness, Sprouts Market, Comet Pub and Lanes, HomeGoods, Half Price Books, and a wide selection of family restaurants without needing a car to get there. If you’re coming from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, you can take the MARTA rail from the airport to Avondale station. We are one mile north of that station—available by walking or Uber/ride-hailing service. We are located 1.5 miles from downtown Decatur, within walking distance of Suburban Plaza and all the shops/restaurants of North Decatur, and 3 miles from Emory/CDC. You are welcome to park on the street by our home - there is plenty of safe street parking available. This one-of-a-kind 3/2 cottage has everything you need for your getaway—and personal design touches throughout. Owner lived in Africa for over twenty years and many of his design pieces are on display here. Hardwood and bamboo floors on first floor; new carpet in bedroom upstairs. Eco-friendly HVAC system. Master bath has 100-year-old Zanzibar a handpainted tiles in double shower and a Shona sculpture. Guest bathroom has Malawi hand-painted tile in the shower and a Malawi hand-painted vessel sink. Hand-carved Congo chest in family room. New Keurig coffee maker also available in the kitchen, along with new microwave - all you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay in the Decatur/Atlanta area. We have granola bars and coffee/tea available for your breakfast. The kitchen is fully outfitted and available for your use. You might hear the faint whistle of a train going by late at night from the old Atlanta rail system — or a barred owl outside our window. Owners are both artists and enjoy the peace and serenity of this home. Some of Mark’s photos are on display throughout the home, and copies of Stacia’s novels are on the antique Dutch chest by the fireplace. You’re welcome to read any other book in our home, as well — we just ask that you leave it here when you depart!
