Cozy and comfortable, this beautiful home on 35 private acres boasts a fireplace, two bedrooms separated by a full bath, onsite laundry and another half bath. Maximum capacity = 4 people; all guests must be 21 or older and provide ID at check-in. No teens/children/toddlers/infants. The solar-powered house is entirely for you with no shared areas. It is warm and sophisticated, and 100% off-grid. This means our water and electricity are not sourced from utility companies. If you've been wanting to experience off-grid living, you will love this house. You'll need to be mindful of your electrical usage, such as turning off lights in rooms you are not using and not operating high wattage items simultaneously. (It's all explained in our house manual.) Other than that, off-grid living is so easy and you won't notice much of a difference! We can't wait to hear what you have to say about staying here! All guests have full access to the property, our home, and garage for parking. Interaction levels are completely based on guest preferences. The owners live full time in San Antonio and are available by text or phone calls, however, the next door neighbor to your vacation home is also an AirBnB host and helps us keep an eye on the property. She is usually available to assist with any emergencies you may have. Our two bedroom cottage on a former cattle ranch is close enough to Trinidad to have convenient access to shopping and restaurants (10-15 minutes) and far enough away to provide complete tranquility. From our mountaintop, you can see the lights of town with none of the bustle and noise. Your closest neighbor is over 35 acres away! During November through April when we experience multiple snow/melt cycles, a four wheel drive vehicle with high clearance is MANDATORY. Even in the summer and fall, our ranch's gravel roads get muddy when it rains, so a four wheel drive vehicle is strongly recommended year-round. Face coverings: Please wear masks in the Trinidad area during the COVID-19 pandemic. This practice has been mandated by the Governor of Colorado for all persons 10 and older. Firm house rules: We do not make exceptions to our No Pets and No Guest Under 21 rules. Elevation in Trinidad is appropriately 6000 feet above sea level. Our vacation rental is about 7000 feet - it's on top of a mountain. Ranch roads: Our home is in a developed ranch with maintained gravel roads. We are on one of the ranch's highest points and like all mountaintop locations, the roads are winding to get up there. So you don't get lost, your initial arrival should occur during daylight hours; please pay attention to what time sundown will occur. Additionally, if it has snowed or rained, the roads will be muddy. A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE drive vehicle with HIGH CLEARANCE (SUV or truck) is strongly recommended all year, and MANDATORY during the months of NOVEMBER through APRIL. Summer temperatures: Like many mountain homes in Colorado, our cottage does not have air conditioning. Even in late summer, our evenings are nice and cool and that's the time to open up the windows and let those refreshing breezes in. Once the sun is up, it's best to close up the windows and blinds to maintain a comfortable temperature in the house, and run the ceiling fans for good air circulation. Very important: please read the house manual upon arrival to fully understand off-grid living, especially electricity usage and conservation. Bear safety is also covered. :-)
