Located on 3 acres of secluded, untouched forest on the side of the Mount Geoffrey Escarpment, you can take in its breathtaking panoramic ocean and mountain views from your private hot tub. Relax in front of the fire or in the handcrafted sauna after a day of hiking or mountain biking in the adjacent Provincial Park. High speed internet and cell service keep you connected during your stay. May - September are 1 week minimums with Friday check-ins. Eureka House is West facing and overlooks the Strait of Georgia, Denman Island and the mountains on Vancouver Island, providing some of the most breathtaking views you will ever experience. The panoramic view provides for gorgeous sunsets and sunrises, all year round - this is one of the only places on Hornby Island with this feature and truly makes Eureka House a one-of-a-kind experience. Eureka House was architect designed and provides a classic Scandinavian forest aesthetic with many modern touches. The vaulted, sloped cathedral ceilings and natural wood finishes provide the perfect ambience for unobstructed views out of floor to ceiling windows that span the entire West side of the house. The view can also be enjoyed from the comfort of the master bedroom, boasting additional floor to ceiling windows and direct access to the deck. The house is always bright with natural light coming in from the skylights that span the length of the house. Every aspect of Eureka house has been designed to provide you with the ultimate in relaxation and comfort. Get lost in your favorite book with a cup of tea by the wood-burning fireplace. Enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the views from your own private mountain-side hot tub. Relax after a day of exploring the forests or beaches in the custom handcrafted sauna. Enjoy dinner under the stars with your family and friends on the 700 sq ft, two-tier deck. Surrounded by moss covered forests populated with massive, rare Garry Oaks and whimsical Arbutus, you will find the perfect combination of privacy and serenity. Deer regularly visit the house, as do bald Eagles, owls, and other birds. From the bluff edge, you can spot sea lions and orca swimming through the channel between Hornby and Denman - your own personal safari. There are no dangerous animals on Hornby Island making it a very safe experience. Watch the Ferry make its daily trips between the islands and the float planes landing and taking off from the Spit. Eureka house is perfect for your next romantic getaway, your next family adventure, or your next trip with your best friends. It is well equipped for an extended work-cation and digital nomads, as its high-speed internet connection is perfect for remote work and zoom calls. Explore the local wineries, the meadery, cidery, art exhibits, restaurants, bakeries, yoga and more. Visit famous Helliwell Provincial Park to experience more incredible views, unique wildflowers, and meandering hiking trails. In the summer, relax on the white sandy beaches and swim in the tropical blue waters of Big Tribune Bay. For the more adventurous there is scuba diving, kiteboarding, skimboarding, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and more. Although you won’t want to leave the comfort of this incredible property, there is so much to do and experience on Hornby all year round. In the winter months, the road to get up to the house can be slippery as it is on a steep grade. We recommend bringing chains if there has been a recent snowfall and/or if you do not have winter tires.
