Our mountainside Villa, Vista do Mar, situated in a lush tropical landscape, offers stunning views of the ocean and beach from the living room, deck, balcony, and bedrooms. The Villa is 150 meters from the longest beach in the BVI, walking distance from restaurants and bars. Perfect for couples and honeymooners, who have all slept to the sound of the ocean surf in the cool breeze of Vista do Mar. A large covered balcony provides a relaxing private space to relax and enjoy the expansive view of the sea and Long, Apple and Carrot Bays. Relax with the sound of the surf and cool breeze in the late afternoon. The villa is perfectly positioned to avoid the burning rays of the late afternoon sun. Your unit has a full kitchenette that you can use to avoid expensive restaurants and to prepare breakfasts and lunches as you wish. Although it is rarely required, your penthouse unit is fully air conditioned.v You will be alone in a large 'honeymoon' suite, with a large king bed, a panoramic ocean view, a large bath with Jacuzzi, a full kitchenette with fridge, microwave, countertop four burner range, and a balcony overlooking the see and nearby beaches. You will have access to our local contact for any problems or concerns you might experience. A cell phone is provided with $5 of credit (can be restocked). Beaches are abundant on Tortola. Long Bay Beach, the mile long expanse in front of the villa, is a two minute walk. The (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and Tropical Fusion restaurants at the beach offer excellent food service (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) is under renovation). Nature Boy Beach Bar, at the west end of Long Bay Beach, offers rustic beverage service from native islanders. For other beaches, you'll want to have a car. National Car Rental (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) will pick you up at the ferry dock or meet you at the airport. Other agencies are also reliable. Ask for a small SUV so that you can drive comfortably on some of the back roads. Taxis are also available and quite affordable but not so convenient. Smuggler's Cove might be the first beach to visit after Long Bay Beach. Very close, and still relatively undeveloped, it usually offers calm waters and decent snorkeling close to the beach (I've been there snorkeling among schools of tarpon). Cane Garden Bay is a must-see. Plan to have lunch there. The beach is great for kids, and has wave runners, paddle boards, and other water sports available. We love Brewer's Bay, also for good snorkeling and usually calm waters. Josiah's Bay on the other end of the island is usually good for higher surf, although their are some nice areas for snorkeling in calmer seas on the east end of the beach. For day trips, the Baths at Virgin Gorda are incredible. Peter and Cooper Islands are also fun, and a trip to the national park on St. John is great (take your passport). Other islands are also close by and accessible. Restaurants are abundant and excellent. Most have great Caribbean fare and seafood is a must. Kids are also welcome! Ask for recommendations. The people of the island are friendly and helpful. There are not many natives of the BVI, and many of the people you encounter will from other islands. However, if you respect the people, they will respect you. The ambiance is a bit different from the more overrun touristy islands, the pace is calmer, and the people are more focused on enjoying life. They call the BVI 'Nature's Little Secret', and there is a lot of truth to that. You can't help but have a good time there. Once on island, it is best to have transportation. A rental car is almost essential, but you can use taxis. There are many agencies that rent cars (try National Car Rental (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) They are at the airport, or will pick you up at the Ferry Terminal. A small SUV is advisable for some of the rougher roads (e.g., the road to Smugglers Cove). Taxis are also possible, but sometimes less convenient. Smuggler's Cove, one of the nicest beaches on the island, is close by. Go to Cane Garden Bay for the water sports and beach restaurants. Some beaches (Apple Bay) have good surf fairly often. Have your villa stocked before you arrive, to save the trip to the grocery store.
