Purcell's Cove/Hfx - Country Living in the City!

Our bright, spacious (800 + sq. ft.), and clean private apartment is well set up to allow guests to enjoy their stay. Enjoy the privacy of our front deck, lower back yard, and share the upper back yard and fire pit with our two tenants. The whirlpool/Jacuzzi in the master bedroom ensuite is a great way to relax after a hike on the Backlands trails and a swim in Purcell's Pond. Relax and watch Apple TV after your whirlpool. Complimentary tea and coffee.......and many more extras! Our family home is divided into 3 self-contained living spaces (apartments). Our Airbnb apartment occupies the whole main/middle floor. The private front deck is a pleasant spot to watch our little world go by. The private lower back yard has bar-b-que and ample seating. The shared upper backyard has direct access to many Kms. of Backlands trails and Purcell's Pond as well as a fire pit and picnic table. There are several options for walks along the ocean in the village - including our National Historic Site, Fort York Redoubt. Guests have exclusive use of the front deck off the living room with chairs and coffee table. The lower back yard with chairs (seat cushions in back yard storage box), and a bar-b-que is also exclusive to guests. The upper back yard has a fire pit and chairs that is a shared space with our 2 other permanent tenants. The (no fee/detergent included) laundry area, down one level, is also shared. There is no laundry schedule. We enjoy meeting our guests when possible. Both Sharlene and I are available on Airbnb site, by text, e-mail, or Messenger. Our two tenants, one up, one down, are quiet, friendly, and helpful to our guests. Purcell's Cove is a former fishing village situated at the mouth of the Northwest Arm nestled on the western side of historic Halifax Harbour. There are still several descendants of the Purcell family living here. It is now part of the City of Halifax. The 'Backlands' forest is accessed through the backyard. The forest is a wonderful natural place for exploring with kilometres of hiking and biking trails, and swimming in Purcell's Pond. Parking is available on premises. Suggest drive past house and turn around to drive up driveway. Turn around in driveway so you can drive out when leaving. Turn right when leaving. There is a Halifax Transit bus stop conveniently located 10 meters from our front door. It will take you 3 minutes (away from town) to our National Historic Site, Fort York Redoubt in one direction or 14 minutes to the Halifax Shopping Centre at the Mumford Terminal transfer station in the other. From there you can transfer free to the downtown waterfront, the university district or the hospital district as well as Dartmouth. Adult cash fare is $2.50 (10 for $20), Seniors $1.75 (10 tickets $14.50). Tickets are available at most pharmacies. Check Halifax Transit online. This ticket or transfer can also be used on the downtown ferry to and from Dartmouth. It's the best harbour tour ever......and there's lots to see and do on the Dartmouth waterfront too! Tip: take public transit downtown to party. (Halifax has more bars per capita than any other city in Canada!)
