Dockyard has many eateries including traditional pubs, and several bars and restaurants, artisan ice cream, and an authentic French bakery. NEARBY BEACHES Keep in mind that the small local beaches are not groomed, so there may be glass, seaweed etc. They are lovely and I prefer the little quite tucked away beaches, but I would suggest beach shoes if you are exploring off the beaten track. PARSONS BAY (6 minutes walk) is a little off the beaten track, but it's well worth the effort to reach this secluded, sheltered beach on Bermuda's West End. The beach has coarse, white sand and shallow, calm water that's perfect for swimming and splashing around with the whole family. There are no restrooms or other facilities here, making it a less visited spot that's great for travellers seeking out tranquil beaches. BLACK BAY BEACH AND PARK (5 minutes walk) is a string of three tiny coves with beaches that come and go with the tide. Bring a lunch and enjoy the peaceful views from the picnic table. The waters here are shallow and calm, and you can often find colourful sea glass scattered along the beaches. SNORKEL PARK BEACH (17 mins walk or 4 mins by bus) Spend a relaxing day swimming and snorkelling in the crystal-clear lagoon at Snorkel Park Beach, part of the Royal Naval Dockyard complex on the West End. The historic Keep Fort presides over one end of the beach; dip into the shallow reefs and you’ll find sunken cannons and a variety of colourful fish. Snorkel Park Beach has everything you need for the day – from a beach bar and restaurant to bathrooms, lockers and water sports rentals. It's open every day, and Sundays often feature live music and family-friendly events. A few evenings a week, Snorkel Park transforms into a nightclub called Club Aqua, with drinks and dancing for the 18-and-up crowd. Admission charged for entry and can be crowded when the Cruise ships are in port. SOMERSET LONG BAY AND NATURE RESERVE (7 minutes by taxi, twizy or moped) is a secluded beach and incorporates peaceful walking trails and a nature reserve. The family-friendly park has a playground, bathrooms and picnic areas, while the surrounding reserve has trails to freshwater ponds that attract migrating birds during the spring and fall. The area is managed by the Bermuda Audubon Society, which has worked to replant native trees like Bermuda cedar and palmetto. Along the coast you'll find a nice stretch of beach that rarely gets crowded, with calm, shallow water. HORSESHOE BAY BEACH (20 minutes by taxi, twizy or moped -alternatively #7 Bus outside property takes you directly there ($2.50 if you buy a book of 15 tickets). Popular Horseshoe Bay Beach is a favourite with tourists. Beach chairs, umbrellas .snorkel equipment, boogie boards and paddle boards can be rented and for water babies and children, Port Royal Cove at the end of the beach is an enclosed bay that keeps the big waves out. Rum Bum Beach Bar has cold drinks, ice cream cones and house-blended Rum Swizzles. Moped, Bike or Twizy (1 or 2 person electric vehicle) for rent Electric car charging stations on property Bus Stop on site Ferry Stop (15 minute walk or 4 minute cycle ride).
