Salmonberry Cottage, ocean front delight big view

A dog friendly lovely oceanfront 3 bedroom cottage, 1 week stays that must be consecutive, Saturday to Saturday. Nestled in Gowlland Harbour, Quadra Island the cottage has 750’ of private ocean front & 12 acres of land with trails. The big decks face SW with a dynamic environment of wildlife, passing boats, & great sunsets. Activities including hiking, fishing, kayaking, biking, running, swimming or relaxing. The cottage has been totally renovated with big windows & a great kitchen. The cottage is oriented to the ocean with large windows and decks. There are lots of comfy deck chairs, a barbacue, table and shade umbrella. The kitchen is roomy and well equipped with a large window looking at the ocean. The downstairs bathroom has a five and a half foot bathtub and a separate 5 foot shower. It’s huge window looks at the ocean. The living room has a great wood stove with plenty of dry wood for cooler cosy nights and comfortable furniture and windows on two sides look out at the ocean. There is a large dining room table with six chairs. The two bedrooms upstairs have queen beds and the downstairs bedroom has a queen bed below and a single bunk above. The bedrooms are not large, master bedroom upstairs is 10’x15’, other bedroom upstairs is 9’x9’ feet and downstairs bedroom is 9’x10’ . There is a small upstairs bathroom with a window, toilet and sink. The laundry room has a washer and dryer. There are books, board games, jig saw puzzles, bocce balls and some kids toys. Many find great entertainment on the beach with a beautiful rock outcropping to spend some time on or to read a book. There is easy launching of kayaks, paddle boards or canoes from the beach to explore Gowlland Harbour and its islands. There are great trails on the property as well as lovely moss covered bluffs. The long private driveway winds thru salmonberry bushes, alder and fir trees to the cottage. Accessibility: While you can drive right up to the door, there are a number of stairs to navigate in the cottage. This is NOT a good property for people using a wheelchair, walker, crutches etc. The ground is very uneven. Anybody not liking steep stairs should plan on staying in the downstairs bedroom. Other things to note: No smoking in the cottage or on the property. Locals and visitors like to gather at the Heriot Bay Inn (a lovely deck when the weather allows). Kayak, canoe and paddle board rentals and tours are available at Quadra Island Kayaks. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Guests have access to the entire 12 acres and beach with lots of lovely bluffs and trails. We try to meet guests as they arrive or can tell them how to enter if it’s really late at night. The atmosphere is very rural, quiet and peaceful with boats, both pleasure and working passing by. Sometimes tug boats can be heard at night as they move log booms with the tide. Heriot Bay Inn 5km Groceries and Liquor sales 5km Rebecca Spit 8 km A car is very useful as it’s 5 km to the stores and pub. There are several steep unpaved hills that many bicyclists would find challenging. Kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding or rowing from the beach are great. Great kayaking and easy launching of kayaks and canoes. Wonderful paddling in Gowlland Harbour, which has a number of little islands that are designated as parks. Quadra Island has lots of very good hiking trails, mountain bike trails, mountain climbing routes on Chinese Mountains, a lovey lake chain (9.9 horse power limit) and numerous smaller lakes you can hike to and swim in.
