This cute, newly remodeled studio is like a treehouse nestled among the beautiful Redwoods of the Santa Cruz mountains, but only 7 miles (or 15 minutes) from downtown or the beach. The space is perfect for 2 adults or a couple with 1-2 children. Due to the layout, it's not good for 4 adults. I’ve also been informed that this space is “not senior friendly,” so if you have difficulty with steps, this may not be the place for you. This cozy retreat is loft-like with pitched dormer ceilings and slanted walls. It's a small space located above a garage, so you may hear the garage door open and close occasionally. It's bright and airy, very quiet, and surrounded by beautiful Redwood trees. The studio is completely open, so there is no solid separation between spaces, including the bathroom. It's perfect for a couple or 2 adults with 1-2 kids. Not set up for a group of friends or all adults. Also not good for seniors who struggle with stairs. Guests will have their own space that faces away from the main house. Private access to the studio is on side of garage away from house. We will mostly be available by text and if possible are happy to greet you when you arrive for any questions or concerns that you may have. The studio is close to either downtown Santa Cruz (7 miles to the beach) or Capitola and only 20-25 mins from Los Gatos. There are wineries nearby as well as some great restaurants nearby. Everything is within a 15-20 min drive. We live off a one lane dirt road, so be prepared to pull to the side if you encounter others. If you arrive during rainy season, the road can get a little rough, but doable if you take it slow. The Redwoods here are majestic. You will need a car here. We live off a dirt/gravel road, which makes it feel even more like you're in the mountains. The road is graded and easy to drive. The complete instructions with pictures are in the check-in section of Airbnb and available to view the day you arrive. There is limited cell phone coverage here unless you have Verizon. With wifi we have not had problems texting, but coming and going can be sketchy if you have AT&T. Occasionally PG&E decides to cut power to the area (usually only in the summer). If this should occur, we do have a generator that automatically turns on to keep the place running. This will cause a humming noise to be heard. We may turn the generator off at night for quietness. We will notify guests if this becomes the case. House trained pups are welcome, but you'll need to bring a bed for them as we don't want the fur-kids on the beds in the studio. We'll provide poop bags and a water bowl if needed. Also, fur-kids cannot be left unattended at the property. Thanks! We can't wait to meet them!
