Our " floathouse" has everything a guest could want, privacy and a beautiful waterfront location on the Whaletown Lagoon. There is a shared family dock for launching your kayaks, swimming, or just relaxing and watching the changing of the tides. Its vintage ambience combines much of its original historical nature and water travels with modern updates. A former bunk house for hand logging camps and part of our floating household, its traveling days are now over. Our "floathouse" has been a vacation rental for over 15 years and contains most everything one would want. The kitchen has everything needed for meal preparation and baking and a variety of small appliances. The bedroom has a double bed and the living room has a sofa bed. There is a shower in the bathroom and an outdoor bathtub on the deck overlooking the lagoon. For entertainment the eclectic library should satisfy everyone's taste and includes a collection of marine and wildlife references and First Nations history. There is also a variety of board games. The flat screen TV has HDMI, remote, built in DVD and a collection of over 200 DVDs but no TV reception. There is also a landline phone. As little or as much as you would like. We are located on the Whaletown Lagoon, within walking distance of historical Whaletown, the only town on the island that is as it was 60 plus years ago. This includes a church, library, post office and government wharf. However, the store is no more and unfortuately the Post Office has relocated. The Whaletown Commons park, walking trails, Schoolhouse Gallery, and the Gorge Harbour Marina and the new location for the old post office are all within walking distance. The Whaletown ferry landing is less than10 minutes away by car. The Whaletown Lagoon is an unique marine environment to explore. There is a freshwater creek running through it into Whaletown Bay. Migratory salmon use the creek. The marine life is adapted to a muddy substrate, long periods of exposure and fresh water content. The lagoon is also a feeding ground for a variety of water fowl as well as eagles and heron. A car or bicycle is recommended
