This 19th century barn-house has a welcoming, cosy, bright vibe and a funky bohemian flair. It's artsy, comfortable with touch of sophistication. Lots of sitting areas for reading, conversation and chilling out. Great view and backyard stream; perfect for nature lovers. Decks and wonderful outside space for a cook out or enjoying the brook & gardens on a nice day. Perfect oasis and get away in idyllic Vermont surroundings. The property dates back to 1750's, with the old historic blacksmith's shop, beautifully built from stone. The Barn house has been updated with modern appliances, giving a clean look which fits with the old post and beam structure of the house. Large cathedral windows upstairs create a beautiful space with fantastic light, overlooking the brook. The sound of the brook at night will lull you to sleep! Trails off of the property are great for fantastic day trips, hiking, rambling walks, foraging for raspberries, strawberries and choice mushrooms, (if you know how to collect). Artist property with funky historical buildings, gardens and brook running through the back of the property- very refreshing on a hot day! Wonderful old apple tree Decks and back yard/ brook are accessible We have wonderful suggestions for day trips, places to eat and cool things to do- please ask us! We are situated in "personal" community, with a beautiful church across the street, old tavern, trails and great neighbors. The neighborhood is filled with kind people ready to lend a hand. Here, there is still an old-time sense of community filled with artists, writers, musicians and intellectuals. We are located in front of a wonderful country tavern, (live music Weds and Fri), 5 min. from walking/ hiking trails, local farm and farm stand, beautiful views, 10 min. to Windsor, 15 min to Woodstock, Quechee, White River Junction and 25 min to Hanover/ Norwich. 25 min. from mount Ascutney and St. Gaudens National Park We have parking, but there is extra parking in the church parking lot across the street and on the street itself. There is live music on Weds. and Fri. at the Skunk Hollow Tavern across the street. The music can usually be heard if they have the doors and windows open on a hot night. The music is usually fun and enjoyable, but depending on the person, could bother some. We will provide earplugs just in case....
