A room with a view at Kicking Horse Resort
All guests must be fully vaccinated for covid. Breakfast is included. Vagabond Lodge is located across the road from the gondola at Kicking Horse Resort Golden BC in the middle an adventure playground. In the winter, skiing, snowboarding at Kicking Hose Resort is unparalled. In the summer the hiking in Yoho National Park, Glacier National Park(Canadian version) is a short drive away. My place is good for couples and solo adventurers. Mountain view suites with great views of the Rocky Mountains. All rooms have private baths and heated floors. Rooms have 1 queen size bed with a maximum of 2 people. This is a 3 story building with bedrooms on the top floor. There is no elevator. Vagabond does not have any TV's. A healthy full breakfast is included in your stay with home-made bread, fruit scones, homemade yogurt, fruit, eggs and pancakes and cereals. We do not do meat. Across the road is the Gondola at Kicking Horse Resort with access to great skiing in the winter and hiking, mountain biking and sightseeing in the summer. The owners live on site and prepare the great breakfast and are available throughout the day if needed. Unless they are skiing or hiking. We are located in an adventure playground with some of the most amazing scenery in the world along with all sorts of outdoor activities available within easy reach including skiing and snowboarding, and snowshoeing in the winter. In the summer Glacier and Yoho National Parks are within 30 minute drive for some of the best hiking in the world. The Kicking Horse River just minutes away has some great whitewater rafting. Other activities include Golf at the Golden Golf club, horseback riding, sightseeing gondola and ridge hikes at Kicking Horse Resort, downhill and cross country mountain biking and much more. Parking is free at Vagabond Lodge. Greyhound bus lines operates a daily schedule through Golden. There will be an airport shuttle 3 times a week from Calgary Airport to Vagabond Lodge for the ski season. Contact us for details. Checkin is between 4 and 6pm. Checkout is at 11am. If arrival is after 6pm please contact us with your arrival time and we will send you the code for the entrance. Vagabond Lodge features a large guest area with wood burning fireplace and a bar area where guests stock the bar and help themselves. The lower level features a pool table, as well as sauna and outdoor hot tub. There is no cooking facilities available for guest use including a microwave. The fridge behind the bar is for guest use. Lori and Ken live on site in their own apartment and if they are not skiing or hiking, are available on request. Vagabond Lodge is located in a adventure playground with skiing, (nordic and downhill), snowboarding and snow shoeing in the winter in our back yard in the winter. And in the summer there are some of the best hikes in the Rockies within easy reach(30 minutes) in both Yoho and Glacier National Parks. Banff is 1 and a half hours, Lake Louise is 1 hour and Jasper about 3 hours. There is a nice restaurant next door as well as a pub a few seconds walk away which also serves some pretty good pub food. The town of Golden which is a great little working-class town(logging and railway) is just 10 minutes away. Golden has a lot of culture with live music almost overnight somewhere or another and some great restaurants and pubs. The town is full of young people who are here to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle. Golden is blessed with a great hospital and other services for the community. There is no public transportation in our area unfortunately. But you can rent bikes not only at the resort but also in the town of Golden where there are a number of awesome biking trails. Vagabond Lodge's name is steeped in traveller's history. The name comes from "Club Vagabond" which was originally a mountain climbing club in Leysin Switzerland where Ken worked for 2 years.
