The Way Inn is a delightful wheelchair accessible waterfront bungalow at the mouth of the Inlet, next door to the general store where you can grocery shop or have them cook a quick meal or snack. Private dock with available moorage (from mid-May to early October, please see below) right on the boardwalk with easy access to Brady's Beach. Located on a desirable section of the boardwalk, just steps away from the government dock, where you can arrive on the MV Frances Barkley ship. 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom (one wheelchair accessible with curbless shower and ADA-compliant sink and toilet) newly renovated bungalow with 4 beds, spacious living room with views across Bamfield Inlet, front deck adjacent to the boardwalk, rear deck, ample fridge and freezer space for the day's catch, private dock with potential moorage, wood fireplace. Kitchen, living room, and bathrooms recently renovated. A wonderful place to relax after a day spent beachcombing at Brady's Beach, strolling down the boardwalk or fishing. The entire house except the cleaning closets. The front deck is fully accessible. The enclosed backyard is for your relaxing pleasure. The gate on the fence in the backyard is the limit for guests. The yard behind the gate is not accessible for guests. The post office is a part of the same building, but is not part of the rental space. We (Howard and Angeli) live in Victoria, so we would not reliably be available to meet you. However, our dear friend, and caretaker Peter, will be there to provide any assistance you may need during your stay. If we are in Bamfield during your stay, we would be happy to show you around! This unique property is right next to the general store, which is the hub of activity in Bamfield. There, you can meet the locals, chat to other tourists, grab a bite to eat from the deli, or chat to the local fishermen to find out where is the day's salmon or halibut hot spot. Getting Here: is half the adventure. Bamfield is accessible by logging roads either from Port Alberni or Youbou. There is daily bus service during the warmer months, although the schedule is geared to hikers attempting the world famous West Coast Trail, rather than less energetic tourists. It is certainly possible to drive the roads, even without 4 wheel drive, although good directions are necessary. If you arrive by vehicle, you will need to cross Bamfield Inlet via water taxi. It is also possible to take the MV Frances Barkley from Port Alberni, 3 sailings per week except during the summer when there are 4 sailings per week. Scheduled seaplane service is available from YVR twice daily during the summer. Getting Around: Bamfield is split by an inlet. West Bamfield (where the Way Inn is situated) is water access only, or a very very long walk. The peninsula of West Bamfield is pedestrian friendly, with very few vehicles on the roads. It is a half hour walk to the other side of the peninsula which faces towards the open Pacific ocean at Brady's Beach, and about the same to the Ghost forest walk. Otherwise, you need a boat to appreciate the beauty of Bamfield and surrounding nature. Kayak and canoe rentals are possible, as is water taxi service (at $10 per trip per person). Having your own boat would offer the utmost flexibility if you wish to explore the Deer Islands or Broken Islands. There is available moorage at $1/foot/night directly in front of The Way Inn from mid-May to early October, with guaranteed moorage if making arrangements at the time of booking. The maximum boat that can currently be moored is approximately 34', depending on width of boat and skill of operator. There may be room for a second boat, but this is not guaranteed, and may involve some difficult maneuvering on a very low tide. Again, one should enquire about the moorage possibilities before booking. Please note that guest rates do not include federal Goods and Service Taxes of 5% nor does Airbnb have a mechanism currently to collect this federal government tax. This tax would be collected separately from guests on check-in. If you wish to make a longer-term booking off-season, enquire about discounts, depending on the season and the length of stay. The Way Inn is on the West side of Bamfield, across Bamfield Inlet from the road access. Therefore, you will need either your own boat, utilize the water taxi service ($10 per person per trip), or float plane. World class fishing awaits, as does the northern end of the West Coast Trail, kayaking in the Deer or Broken Islands. Moorage on the property is available directly in front of the Way Inn for $1.50/foot/night, up to maximum 32'. Larger boat might be possible, as might second boat, depending on width, and boating skills. Enquire first before booking. Moorage is available to general public as well as guests on a first-come, first-serve basis.
