Located in a stunning setting bordering the Ompompanoosuc River, two bedrooms with loft, simple, yet cozy furnishings with nice art, comfortable beds, porch, and wood stove make this the perfect respite from the fast paced world. Located in the heart of adjacent quintessential New England villages (Thetford, South Strafford, and Norwich), nearby restaurants, horse country, bicycling activities make this location a gem. This simple cottage would be fantastic for two or three adults, or two couples- We live nearby and would be available to greet, and steer them in direction for local activities and sights. Welcome! Your central to many things, Dartmouth college is a quick 20 minutes away in Hanover, NH! There is a movie theatre, art museum and many restaurants, and the best food store, the Hanover Co-Op. In Norwich is King Arthur flour, and our local general store, Dan & Whits; walk through to the back to find how much they have! If you go left out our driveway you hit in just a few miles the little town of South Strafford, the quintessential New England village where there is also a little general store, check further up to Strafford to see the Justin Morrill homestead, and a great restaurant, The Stone Soup. It’s worth the drive about 40 minutes to Woodstock Vermont, or the other direction to the white mountains. Stop in Bradford Vermont and go into ‘Farmway’, another fantastic retail experience. Closer, go right out the driveway take a left onto Tucker Hill Road, park a little ways in on the right and walk into the Union Village Dam recreation area, keep walking along this old road and discover many old swimming holes, at least a spectacular, quiet, unpopulated, recreation area to breath in the good air. Just about any direction you can’t go wrong. One would need to arrive by car, it is on a bicycling route for road bikes, lots of nearby hiking. There is not a DVD, but the TV is a smart TV, and you can get onto your Netflix account easily, and you should be good! If your looking for a short beautiful place to ‘walk’ right near-by, go right out the driveway, Tucker Hill Road is a couple of lefts down 132, turn there, very soon on the right you will see some cars parked, its the north entrance to the Union Village Dam Recreation area. Park there, in all seasons, even winter, if the snow is not deep, it should be relatively easy walking. Walk in and down that, it is the old 132, before the dam was built in the 40’s. It’s really beautiful, stroll over the iron bridge, and through the next iron gate, it goes for as long as you want and is relatively flat road.
