Our cabin is SELF check in meaning we are not on site to let you in. The cabin is a great place to base your winter wonderland getaway. These are the days you want to spend at the natural hot springs, visit Halcyon, Nakusp Hot Springs, St Leon & Halfway all within 15-30 minutes from the cabin. There is a supply of wood for you to prepare your own fire, note that fires are not pre lit for check in due to fire regulations, cabin insurance and fires should not be left unattended, the fire place door should always be in the locked position. There is a hi supply of pre-chopped wood beside the bunkhouse under the tarp with two sizes of axe to chop down your kindling. Note that being in a small village with limited services, our snow removal people will clear snow when they can get to us so be prepared for an inch or two on the ground should it have snowed since they last plowed. Note the cabin has baseboard heaters throughout the cabin and generally set to 4 during the winter which should be about 18 degrees, they have their own built in thermostats so you can adjust them when you check in to warm up the cabin, maybe go grab some groceries or go for a bite to eat to allow the cabin to warm up if you are not using the wood fire. Please always turn the heat back down when you check out as well as lock all windows and doors. Winter in rural small communities are beautiful but also quite different from the larger populations, services can be slower due to only having one professional for each service, however the village is full of super friendly and accommodating people. Our cabin is located up the hill past the Nakusp Hospital, it is very convenient to all the amenities the village has to offer and moments from the marina and lovely beaches. We recommend you bring your bikes to ride the convenient trails in and around the village. You can walk around the small village or use your bike. The village is 1.5 hours including a ferry from Revelstoke. 2.5 hours from Castlegar and Nelson by car. NOTE the cabin is located within the village of Nakusp, we are not isolated on a large acreage and are not lakefront, we do have neighbours nearby. Expect to hear the regular sounds of a small village. We have had to increase the clean fee from $60 to $100 during the covid period and there are additional deep cleans for compliance. If you’re staying in the spring the sap from the trees will try to stick to your footwear, please remove them to save the floors. Remember our cabin has a strict NO pet policy, please do not book the cabin and then bring along a pet, even if its a hypoallergenic animal, we are dander free and our neighbors do not appreciate pets wandering around and pooping in their yards and we have bookings for people with allergies. Please also remember you are in BEAR country and you must not throw anything but clippings into the compost, do not discard any food waste in there. Please do not leave food out in the yard, on the BBQ or in the treed area surrounding our cabin, its all an attractant and we now have a bear with her cub entering the property looking for food that she has picked up on the waste left behind by a past guest.
