This bungalow sits in a beautiful gated garden about a 10-15 minute walk from Downtown Panajachel. It is safe and secure. It can be rented in conjunction with the similar bungalow which has a kitchen when there are more than 5 people in your party. Sometimes because of time zone differences your request might come when we are away or asleep. If you like what you see in the photos, you can instant book. Note: we cannot accept late arrivals after 8:00 PM, unless you phone in an emergency. This sweet little bungalow sits in a private secure garden about a 10-15 minute walk to town and about 5 minutes to the lake. The bungalow is quiet and very private. Once inside the gate, you are in your own paradise, away from the hustle and bustle of town. Please note that rate is for one person/night. There is an additional charge for a 2nd person & 3rd person. This unit has a double and a single bed, so can sleep up to 3 people if the double bed is shared. (For example, a couple and one child) You will be only a 10 - 15 minute walk to town, or a 3 minute ride by tuc-tuc, the local 3 passenger taxis. You can also walk to the lake in about 5 minutes and if you like can walk along a scenic road which leads to the next indigenous town, Santa Catarina, which can be done in about a half hour. Panajachel is a great jumping off place to visit both the other towns across the Lake and other parts of the Central Highlands, like Solola, Chichicastenango and Xela (Quetzaltenango). You have complete privacy, via your own private entrance at street level. If you have a car, there is secure parking. I am always reachable in my house which is about 100 stairs up from street level and happy to answer any questions you may have. Because your time is generally limited, as you want to make the most of your time here, it's not always easy to meet. However, if I don't find you in your casita to say hello, please feel free to walk up the stairs and visit me at my house. You can call me or send me an email and we can set a time, or just head up to the 2nd blue gate and ring the doorbell. The Neighborhood, Jucanya, is quiet and away from the hustle & Bustle of the central part of town. It's a neighborhood, off the beaten tourist path. If you have time, it's worth walking the narrow streets, where many local families live. Interestingly, it has quite a mixture of houses, from the poorest to the most magnificent, but many behind walls. Sometimes, it's more fun after dark, when you get a better glimpse of local life. Getting around is easy. The walk to town is easy but one can always take a Tuc-Tuc (3 passenger taxi) which costs 5 Quetzal (about 60 cents US) per person. After 10:00 PM you can expect to be charged 10 Q/person. They will take you pretty much anywhere in town for the same flat rate. Note: We don't provide personal laundry services, but you can find laundries in town on Calle Santender that will wash & dry your clothes at reasonable rates. This is the last street in Panajachel. From the Bungalow, you can walk to Santa Catarina, the nearest town on our side of the lake, which will take you about a half hour, along a beautiful lakeside road.
